My TV Screen suddenly lost the picture and only displays vertical lines of color. The audio is fine. I called the Cable company and they performed some diagnostics and told me that the cable connections are all working.

Press menu button on the TV if the on screen display is also distorted or no pic the TV is definetely defective. You can try unpluuging from wall for about 15 minutes and see if reset helps if not problem is either main p.c.b , LCD panel , LVDS cable or Power supply board. and would require service. most likely problem would be bad connection at or defective LVDS cable that connects main p.c.b to Panel (cheapest fix) or defective main p.c.b. If it is the panel it would probably not be worth repairing and you may want to sell as is on ebay.
