Question about Samsung Digimax S730 Digital Camera

LIfe of batteries

Hi, I just bought my camera last night, i've only taken 3 pics with it and i've gone thru 2 sets of batteries. Is there a way to turn the display screen off in the back to save the life of my batteries. I got the CD Manual with it, but the thing will not download. It says that there are problems with disk and download, so i cant check the manual for help.
I am debating on taking the camera back if the camera uses batteries this bad, I love the pic quality but i cant afford the batteries.

If you can help me, i'd like to fiqure this out and what I need to do.
Are there alot of bad reviews on the Samsung s 730.

Thank You
Alisa M

Re: LIfe of batteries

Make sure with any lithium ion battery operated device, that you drain the battery completely when you first get it and then charge it the maximum number of hours it states in the manual. To avoid over charging, don't charge it again until that full charge is once again depleted. This will give you maximum battery power

Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones:

i know its sounds odd but yes the charge on the batteries (Voltage/Amps) is falling short for the camera to start as it takes more power to run the camera than to just preview your pictures

one suggestion i can give here is
(this could be potentially hezardous so tread caution)
if you have rechargale batts then try electro jump to them take any source which is roughly 2-3times the voltage of the batteries (eg: if the batt voltage is 1.25 volts take a 3-5volts source) and connect the +ve wire to the +ve and -ve wire to the -ve of the battery and hold for 10 to 15 secs and then immediatly place it for charging and let them fill charge and use them till the batteries are completely drained
repeat this cycle for 2 -3 times and batteries will come back to life

be careful to connect the wires correctly else they might destroy the batts also not to hold for more than 10-15 secs

pls rate if this was any help

You problem set your camera to use internal memory only. Set the memory function to memory card only and all pictures will go to the memory card until it is full. You can probably still transfer your pic files from internal memory to your card.

Samsung s500

Hi jenn8918,
I had the same problem until a friend of mine told me to use Energizer LITHIUM batteries instead (Silver and blue packaging).
I will warn you ahead they are expensive (1 pack of 2 goes for about & $ 8:00 to $9.00 but they last quite a while (and I use my camera every day practically) they last me about 3 to 4 months. using anything other than the Lithium batteries is a waste of money ...believe me, I've learned my lesson by trying every "super" alkaline battery only to quit on me after 1 hrs use!

Good luck.

Epson 3100 life battery

I have a 3100z and you are right that alkaline batteries do not last long. The thing to do is buy a couple of sets of NiMH rechargable batteries and they last much longer. I,ve just been on holiday and had no problems at all with the batteries. (Although the camera does not give much warning when they need replacing).

Problem with JPEG compression?

think what is happening is that Pentax is not using the maximum JPEG quality value for their high quality setting. I re-saved an image in Photoshop last night, and the JPEG quality value was set to 9. I increased it to 12, and ended up with a 3.5 MB file.
