Question about Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet

Ink replacement Hi I just changed the ink cartridge in my lexmark lazerprinter, I get a message asking me what i replaced and is it new. Then I get nothing it will noy go to the next process.

Did you tell it you had replaced the toner cartridge with a new one?

If not, it's probably worth opening up the printer again, removing the cartridge and putting it back in again and seeing if that question pops up so you can answer it.

Lost my manual, need to change the ink cartridge, help


  1. Look at the indicator light on your Lexmark printer. You'll need to replace ink cartridges when the light flashes or turns red instead of the standard green.

  2. Purchase Lexmark ink cartridges. You can buy the brand name or purchase a generic version that is compatible with your printer. You can shop for low cost ink cartridges from ABC Ink.
  3. Step 3 Remove the old cartridges from your printer. Grip the sides of the Lexmark ink cartridges and pull it out. Dispose of the ink cartridges in a recycle program like the one at Staples or save the cartridges for refill.
  4. Step 4 Install the new ink cartridges after removing the protective tabs. Avoid touching the IC chip when installing the new Lexmark ink cartridges. Replace the cover of the printer.
  5. Step 5 Allow the Lexmark printer to run a nozzle test. Print several pages with the new ink cartridges to make sure you installed the ink cartridges correctly. The indicator light should return to a solid green color.

Lexmark 6170 Cartridge Error 50C How to resolve?


"Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.

Yes I have an cartridge error 50C and I can't seem to fix the problem.

Installed a new Lexmark ink cart and got an incorrect message


take out the cartridge , turn off your printer and take out all the cables behind your printer and wait for 5 minutes and put everything back in.. if the same error shows.. im sorry but your printer needs to be replaced.

Lexmark x 3650 change ink cartridge but it still gives a message(


Hi Glesam,
The X3650 uses the No. 37 tri-color cartridge, i.e. 3 colors in 1 cartridge. Unfortunately, when one color runs out, the cartridge has to be replaced. When you change printer, you might want to consider a printer that uses at least 4 separate ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow). This way you need to replace only the cartridge that runs out.

Dell 926 printer


Dell cartridge are quite expensive, and refilled and non original cartridge are often not accepted by Dell printer. If you use non original cartridge often you keep getting this message unless you replace both cartridges.
Be also careful also if you use refilled, sometimes refilled can leak all over the inside of your Dell printer right when ink is coming to the end.
In your case try replacing both cartriges at the time, this usually clears the error.
A suggestion: Dell small inkjets are sold at a price often inferior to the cartridge set price, and now you know why, ask the price for a new Lexmark, HP, Epson,Brother, Canon etc. next time you have to replace a cartridge set, it may be worth buying a new printer.
Apart small inkjet sector, Dell produces excellent laser printers, computers, laptops and more.

Just replaced my black and color cartridges with new lexmark...

This is normal behavior for proprietary print devices if you have not provided them with a new print cartridge and have instead filled them yourself.

Lexmark X5150 printer (serial #10450991811): Error message reads "color cartridge missing." It is not. With the last cartridge, printing was light and scattered; could not print anything...


Went to online chat with Lexmark. FREE.

They offered to replace cartridges as they felt the ink was dried out in one, and the ink jets in the other were damaged.
