Troubleshooting - Can't get voice chat to work.
Here are a few things you should know and check for to get the voice chat to work. · Firewalls - the voice chat feature may not work well behind company firewalls. Even though you can get other features of Yahoo! Messenger to work, the voice chat feature uses separate technology and may not work as well.
· Check connection - When you enter into a voice chat with friends, each participant should take turns trying to press and hold down the Press to Talk button. Everyone else should see their name turn red when they do that. If you see their names turn red, but don't hear anything, it may be a microphone / speaker problem, or it may be that we have more bugs that we need to fix. If you don't see their name turn red, you are probably having connection problems and that's why it's not working.
· Get the latest version - Please make sure that everyone who is using the voice chat feature has the latest version.
· Check mic and speakers - Check that your microphone works and that your speakers are turned on. Here's how:
* make sure the mic is plugged in correctly.
* adjust the mic properties.
- go to the control panel (start button -- settings -- control panel)
- click on the multimedia icon
- you should see a tab for audio
- make sure that the recording volume is set high.
* you can test your mic. by doing the following.
- Click the Windows Start button, then go to Programs, then Accessories, then Multimedia, then click on Sound Recorder
- A new window called Sound Recorder will pop up. Click on the record button (a red circle), then say a few words, then click the stop button (black square).
- Click the play button (black triangle).
If you can hear yourself fine, then your microphone is okay. If you can't hear your voice using Sound Recorder, the voice chat should not work either.

Most likely you need to check the drivers for your sound card. To confirm this, please check your device Manager (right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager) for unknown/improperly installed devices.
    any yellow or red marks?

How to kame pc to pc free calls

hi friend,
Voice Save money and talk for hours! Make free PC-to-PC calls around the world to friends on Yahoo! Messenger.
Select a friend in your contact list and click the Call button to get started. You and the friend you call both need Yahoo! Messenger, plus a microphone and speakers (or headset). If you own a laptop, you probably have these tools already built-in. If not, head over to Yahoo! Shopping to check out some headsets.
Free PC-to-PC calls are unlimited and the quality is so good that you won't believe it's free! PC-to-PC calling is currently available in the following versions of Yahoo! Messenger: Windows, Mac.
If your friend is not available, you can leave them a free Voicemail. You can also receive voice mails from friends who miss you when they try to call. Voicemail messages are delivered as attachments in email to the address you choose.
Call regular and mobile phones too Sign up for a Yahoo! Voice Phone Out account to make calls from Yahoo! Messenger to your friends' regular or mobile phones worldwide for as low as 1¢ a minute. Find out more.
Forward calls to your mobile or land line If you don't want to miss calls, even when you're signed out, use the call forwarding feature to send incoming PC-to-PC calls to another phone number like your mobile phone (Yahoo! Voice Phone Out account required). The call is still free for your caller, and you only pay the Yahoo! Voice per minute rate for the forwarded call (as low as 1¢ a minute).
Get a phone number for Yahoo! Messenger Need an extra phone number to give to friends and family? Sign up for a Yahoo! Voice Phone In account and get a local phone number that friends and family can use to contact you through Yahoo! Messenger. Even if you're away from your PC, they can leave a Voicemail for you, or you can forward your incoming calls to another number, like your mobile phone. Find out more.
* Please note: 911 and other emergency service numbers currently cannot be accessed through Yahoo! Messenger or Yahoo! Voice services. You must use a traditional land line or mobile phone to access 911 or other emergency service numbers. Internet access and compatible PC required. Intended for use by U.S. residents only. Yahoo! Voice Phone Out and Phone In services are provided by Yahoo! Communications USA Inc., must be purchased separately and require you to download Yahoo! Messenger version 7.5 or higher. See additional terms and conditions during registration. Calls to mobile phones or other wireless devices may be charged at higher rates than calls to traditional land line phones. Additional fees and taxes may apply. All rates, promotional or otherwise, are subject to change at any time without notice. Please see Yahoo!'s most current rate table at: http://voice.yahoo.com/phone_rates.php. PC-PSTN calls are billed in one-minute increments. PC-to-PC calling between Yahoo! Messenger customers is free. I can't call pc to pc

It may have some causes:- First, check your internet connection. You should run the Call Setup Assistant before making voice calls for the first time. To run the Call Setup Assistant: Open the "Messenger" menu in the main Yahoo! Messenger window, and click "Preferences." Then, in the Preferences dialog box, click "Calling and Audio." In the Calling and Audio dialog box, click "Open the Call Setup Assistant." Follow the instructions to test your microphone and speakers and specify your Internet connection. Running the Call Setup Assistant will ensure that you have a high-quality voice experience within Yahoo! Messenger. You can run the Call Setup Assistant at any time to make sure your microphone and speakers are working properly or to change the type of Internet connection you are using. One important thing, your firewall must support outbound TCP (transmission control protocol) connections for the PC-to-PC voice feature to work. You might have a firewall blocking Yahoo! Messenger's PC-to-PC voice feature. If so, you need to open up some outgoing TCP connections. Note that it is the outgoing connections that matter, not incoming connections. In most firewalls, you have to specify a destination port or port range to open. Learn more about which ports Yahoo! Messenger uses. Even if you don't use a firewall, your Internet service provider (ISP) may use a firewall, a network address translator (NAT), or a proxy server that blocks voice traffic. Any of these could prevent you from using the PC-to-PC voice feature in Yahoo! Messenger. Please contact your ISP's network administrator for assistance getting around these issues. You must know that what ports are used by Yahoo! Voice services. Yahoo! Messenger with Voice will work if any one of these TCP ports are open: 5061, 443, 80. At least one of these ports must be open in order to make PC-to-PC or PC-to-phone (Phone Out) calls, or to receive calls (Phone In). If your connection to the web is through an http proxy, then you won't be able to make or receive calls with your PC. Hope it was helpful!

Yahoo messenger does not detect Intel Play Me2Cam Webcam

Normal 0 Also send this to your family and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
Hope this helps. Bud
