You may need to tip the dishwasher forward, use a towel as water will get every where otherwise. once drained put it through another cycle. this should reset the drainage level. hope this works as it has for ours, bye

However in saying this if it is a brand new diswasher it could be a fauty drainage valve if the other answer doesnt work then it should be under warrenty and they will shange it for free. it is not a very big job at all.

Have you checked the drain hose inlet at the garbage disposal? This is a common clog area. Easy check by removing drain hose at disposal and inspecting. Warning, if the disposal is old, the dishwasher hose connector (nipple) may be weak and corroded if metal and may end up needing a new upper half or whole new disposal if part not available. If bad, better to find out now than to have it break loose at some point, flooding your kitchen.

I have water in bottom... 24in. built in...15yr old.. please advise

In addition to your hose being to high or crimped there may be a clog in the bottom drain and filter of the dishwasher. If it is 15 years old there is a high probability that it is clogged with food residue and should be cleaned and changed. You should look below the bottom sprayer unit.

I have a kenmore dishwasher #665.16022400. It does not completely drain at times, and quality of cleaning seems to be down. It is 3 years old.

In my experience, a clogged drain hose is usually the culprit here. If you have an air gap, I found it is useful to open up the air gap and run a still, long wire down the hose to dislodge a clog and then drain the dishwasher again. Rice is what usually clogs mine.

We bought a new dishwasher because the old one wasn't draining all the way. Same problem with the new one?

The pump is a motor which runs in one direction to spray water in the dishwasher to clean and the opposite direction to drain the water. The problem could be from a clog or kink in the drain hose. Several years ago the drain line would connect to the sink garbage disposal. If the garbage disposal is not draining or the dishwasher connection to the garbage disposal is restricted or clogged the dishwasher will not drain. Under the sink, look at the garbage disposal to see if a rubber hose is connected at the side of the disposal unit. If a hose is connected to the side of the disposal, remove the hose clamp and check for any restrictions from garbage in the inlet or hose. You can use a screwdriver to clean the fitting to the garbage disposal and a wire hanger to free any restrictions in the hose. If the dishwasher does not connect to the garbage disposal it should connect to the sink trap. This is more common with new dishwashers because they have built-in disposals. Disconnect the drain hose from the sink trap and the dishwasher and look for a clog at the sink connection. The dishwasher inlet should have an angled piece of plastic or metal facing downward to prevent the waste from the dishwasher from spraying up into the sink. Do not get to aggressive with the cleaning in order to prevent breaking the angled piece of plastic or metal. Look for any kinks in the hose and try to run water through the hose, but do not use the sink which you removed the drain line from or it could leak under the cabinet. If you see a bad kink replace the hose with a new one. I hope this works and you find the problem without a great deal of time or trouble.

My dishwasher won't drain, and leaked out onto my hardwood floor!

I ordered a new hose and the problem is fixed! I probably could have just simply taken the old hose off and flushed it out; but the powdered solution, that is supposed to dissolve, had solidified and clogged the hose in several places. Strangely, it had also made like a filmy flap at both openings. Gross!

Dishwasher not draining

The dishwasher drain pump or drain hose is partially blocked by either food or a chunk of broken glass or something like that. To remove the blockage you must remove the lower front panel and then you will see where the drain hose leads into a little pump near the floor. Remove the hose clamp and unscrew the little pump from the frame. Check out both the pump and the hose for an obstruction and remove it.

Dishwasher not draining

Only a clogged drain hose can possibly cause this problem or the connection to it..So make sure you check both!..Cas it can be even a manufacturing defect in the hose..Thank you...Hope this solves you problem..!!..

Dishwasher will not drain

I hav an Americana / GE dishwasher, only one and a half years old. the dishwasher is not draining. When I turn the selection knob on the front to wash, is begins filling with water again. But, the cycle is not actually working. I removed the drain hose from the disposal unit and allowed the really really nasty collection of water to drain out. I have a feeling that the hose connection to the washer is clogged. Is this possible. If so, should I remove the hose from the connection at the dishwasher and clean the hose or could it be something else.

Thank you,
