Question about Kenmore 73502 / 73504 / 73509 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
I have the Stainless Steel Trio which I purchased in 2/07. I love it!
The water dispenser which was not used often stopped working. I can hear it trying to dispense by the hum when I push the button. I just changed the filter hoping it would be that easy. No luck.
The ice maker is working fine.
Hi . Its good to know the Make and Model number of your refrigerators when you ask for a solution. Each manufactures have their own design flaws that create operating problems. IF YOUR WATER LINE TO YOUR WATER DRINK DISPENSER KEEPS FREEZING AND ADJUSTING THE REFRIGERATOR TEMPERATURE A LITTLE WARMER DOESN'T HELP, THEN YOUR DAMPER BETWEEN YOUR FREEZER AND REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT IS LEAKING AIR IN THE CLOSED POSITION. THIS IS COMMON FOR MAYTAG, WHIRLPOOL AND SOME KENMORE. THIS CONDITION NORMALLY REQUIRES THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DAMPER ASSEMBLY, BUT SOME ARE CAUSED BY AIR LEAKING AROUND THE ASSEMBLY AND CAN BE SEALED WITH A PLUMBERS PUTTY. DON'T CAULK IT. YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE DAMPER IF NECCESSARY. IF YOU HAVE AN LG REFRIGERATOR, YOUR DAMPER COULD BE THE PROBLEM OR YOUR FREEZER TEMPERATURE MAY BE RUNNING TOO COLD. THEY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO RUN BELOW ZERO DEGREES INTO THE NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES. THIS CAUSES THE STORAGE BINS AND WATER LINE TO FREEZE. A COMMOM MANUFACTURES MISTAKE IS WHEN THEY BUILT THIS REFRIGERATOR, THEY FORGOT TO PULL THE COMPARTMENT TEMPERATURE SENSORS OUT FROM THE FOAM OF THE REFRIGERATOR CABINET. THIS MAKES YOUR REFRIGERATOR KEEP RUNNING. IF YOU TAKE THE LITTLE COVER OFF YOU WILL SEE IF THE END OF THE SENSOR IS INSIDE THE COVER HOUSING OR STILL UP IN THE FOAM. BE VERY CAREFULL REMOVING IT FROM THE FOAM BECAUSE THE WIRES ARE THIN AND SHORT. TRY TO PIVOT THE TIP OUT ONLY. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL THE WAY OUT AS LONG AS THE END IS NOW INSIDE THE SENSOR COVER. THESE COVERS ARE LOCATED INSIDE ON THE TOP AROUND THE MIDDLE AREA. CHECK ME OUT ON EBAY AS USERNAME themackshack. GOOD LUCK! MACK

The water line was frozen as I suspected. It runs very cold on the top area.
I didn't realize the water dispenser hose ran behind the left crisper drawer. Once the line was manipulated the blockage broke free.

I just had the same problem and symptoms. And it was reading your thread that put me on the right track. I put a thermometer inside and found that the temp was about 3 degrees colder than shown on the panel. I figured the line may be frozen in some area and turned the temp up 5 degrees. After about 10 hours I tried the dispenser and now am getting water out again. Maybe this will work for you - it was at least free!
