Question about Sony KDS-R60XBR1 60" Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Green problem The TV will be about 2 years old in March. Over the last two months the screen tends to show a little more green background as if it is out of adjustment. I tried adjusting the green hue and some of the other adjustments and it did help a little but still not like new. Would this indicate that the bulb is getting weak or what other type of problem could this be? Anyone have any ideas.

Mine will be 2 years old in March as well. I just bought a new bulb (thinking that was the problem) and it did not help.

If the green light is on, power is getting to the TV but there may have been an internal power supply failure

LG 50PK550 Plasma Single Thin Green Vertical Line

It is going to be one of two basic issues:

1. There is a poor connection somewhere in the set--either with a plug or cable or on one of the boards.

2. There is a board that is beginning to fail causing this.

Either would require a shop and may or may not be worth the cause.

Having seen hundreds of these sets all are more prone to flaky problems than the older sets and average life span is 3-5 years.

Shop I work for 80% of them are 2 years old or less.

If problem began shortly after set was moved or relocated I would lean towards a bad connection somewhere.

I have the same TV which had the same issue ( green in picture ) - back on 10/2007. I called Sony. They had their technician replace the optical box ( factory defect ). There was no charge for the repair even though TV was out of first year of warranty. Call Sony.

Too much green color

Problem solved. I tried playing DVD and the TV picture was fine. So I double-checked cable wires from cable box - one of the wires was loose (obviously it was the red color input). After tightening, the TV picture is good as new.

Icons green tint to them

I'm not sure but I think this model uses an integrated graphics card which would then involve replacing the entire motherboard.

It may be that the screen backlight is getting old - they often age by showing a tint, usually it is pink but I have seen them go greenish.

Try an external monitor connected to the laptop via the VGA d connector. If the picture on the external monitor has a good colour balance then it is probably not a faulty graphics chip, and likely to be the laptop screen.
