Question about Refrigerators

Jenn air side by side refrigerator jcd2289ae

First off this thing has been a lemon from day one. I have had the ice and water dispenser fixed so many times I cant count. Now it wont dispense ice again. The back part turns, but the cork screw doesnt.

The refrigerator runs but it does not freeze or even cool. Does it use freon and can I put it in myself?

You will need to put on a couple of clamp on piercing valves in the back.1 on the suction line ,and 1 on the discharge line. It uses R134A and you can put in in yourself. I have heard of some people having trouble buying this, but don't know first hand. it is a HFC and you shouldn't need to be certified, but I cant tell for sure. Oh ya, you will need a set of gauges too.

Jenn air french door water dispenser broken

You have two sides to your 67006531 Dual Water Inlet Valve, so it is very possible the side that controls the water flow for the dispenser is defective. Replace the 67006531 Dual Water Control Valve and I believe your fridge water will work fine.
I will be here should you have more questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

The jenn-air fridge that i have jcd2289ae has stopped working it is tripping the gfi, i have tried plugging it in another plug in but it trips the breaker here is a simplified wiring diagram for your unit. It might help you track back the problem.

Before it started tripping the circuit breaker what was your refrigerator doing that was not normal? Usually, before something fails massively it will give you hints it is coming. Did your ice maker or lights stop working? Has the compressor been running an excessively long time?

What trips a breaker is the unit drawing more current that what the breaker is listed at. So something in the unit has shorted to cause this to happen. Although the first thing we check in a situation like this is the compressor circuit it isn't always the cause.

This is just anecdotal here, but one repair guy who came out and thawed a frozen line into the icemaker told us the fridge required near-full line pressure 90- or 70- or whatever that is, in order for the ice maker to work. This was a licensed repair guy. We were feeding it with an RO, which only pumped it in at 17 or 20 psi (or whatever the unit is) which he informed us was inadequate. However, after he thawed things out and we changed out the inline carbon filter in the fridge, everything was hunky dory for a couple of years. About a year back, the icemaking stopped, and changing out the carbon filters in the fridge AND in the RO system did the trick.

Now we have a different problem. Things aren't getting or staying cold, especially the fridge. I opened the housing in the back of the fridge, defrosted the extensive ice accumulated around the refridgerant coils, and everything ran great for a couple of days. Now we're back in the global warming pattern: steadily rising temperatures and thawing. I'm not feeling too happy about Jenn-Air these days.

Jenn Air JCD2389GES ice dispenser problem

You could have a layer of solid ice at the bottom of your icetray. Remove icetray. Remove any ice in bottom. Reinstall. Be careful there is a connection on the rear of the icetray, you may have to turn it to get it to mesh correctly. Fill with ice and it should work fine. Good Luck.
