Question about Sharp 17" Monitor

I have a kyocera kc 100 viewer and it wont wake up the pc monitor can ya help?

I bought a thin computer monitor for my mom to use with the kyocera kc100 viewer, but I can't get the monitor to recognize the s-video signal - so the monitor stays in sleep mode. We were really hopeing to go with the thin monitor because she really does not have the room for a tv screen beside the viewer. I tried everything to get the monitor to get out of sleep mode - and there were no options on the monitor set up screen.
Can I apply a voltage signal to the monitor by patching into the vga/s-video adapter wire and use a low volt power supply to get the blasted monitor out of sleep mode? or do we need to buy a tv to make this work?
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a dell computer monitor and put a s-video to vga adapter - from radio shack - on cord to the monitor. and I was wondering that since the manual for the kyocera viewer lists tv monitor hookup instructions - that a monitor may not work.

I bought a s-video to vga adapter at radio shack - so I could hook the s-video cord up to the monitor. the monitor is a dell flat screen computer monitor. the model is a dell 172fpb. I'm wondering if I have to jusy go with a tv to get this to work - because that was the only thing listed in the instructions for the viewer.
    Thanks for your reply

Hi,

As far as I know, your Sharp screen doesn't have a S-video input. How are you inputting the S-video signal to the screen? The fact that it doesn't "wake up" probably means that it isn't receiving a signal.

Did you make sure that the video convertor is turned on and working? If it's those 2 way convertors (that converts both ways) make sure it's set on converting s-video to RGB with input from your viewer and output to your monitor.

I'm confused as to how you're connecting this with s-video. Are you using an RGB / s-video adapter?

What is the exact monitor brand / model?

AOC Monitor says "no signal" and won't wake up!

This monitor refuses to wake up because it cannot find the signal from the computer.

When the light is amber, force the pc to shut down by holding the power button until all lights go off. Then, after about 10 seconds, power the pc back up again.

If this does not start your monitor, unplug all the monitors connections and plug them back in again. These things should reform the connection from the pc to the monitor.

good luck

Not a good idea if your unit is under warranty. You should take it in to a service center for the repair. The unit has many tabs that lock the case to the frame and you could damage them if you do not know how to release them properly. This could void your warranty and ruin your case. The results maybe that you are unable to close it correctly and align it with the frame, to secure it.Unless you are very experienced and have the correct tools to work with. It is better to take it to a service center. Hope this helps.
