Question about Panasonic Toughbook 48 Notebook

Panasonic cf 48

I have been trying to get my laptop to get past the windows boot screen for a few, well about 10 hours. I have on line classes that I an taking and I had to load a windows service pack #2 on my Tough book. The installation looked like it was going well until the laptop shut down to restart. Now I can not get it to even go back to when it was working before I tried to install the service pack. I also installed Linksys wireless-G earlier, I had the wireless working in about 2 hours, I had a problem with my home computer not wanting to synchronize with my laptop(NORTON). How do I get my laptop (Panasonic Tough book CF-48) to start back at the point before I tried to install the Windows Service Pack 2?

    Dear shaggy242,

Thank you for the tip. I did the reset back to the last known good configuration. It put me back, to as far as I could tell, a couple of minutes near to where the problem occurred. It told me in safe mode that it had restored but still would not start in normal operation. I would get into the safe mode again after a few tries. The F8 would always allow me to select safe mode, but I could not always get the laptop to run in safe mode. Last night I took the advice from your second paragraph and started to load xp from scratch. The problem now is the Panasonic is not recognizing the video drive, I put the original one back in and it seems to boot up faster. I put the one in that plays movies and it runs a lot slower, but no movie. I think that I need to install something so that the laptop recognizes the CD/DVD driver. Is there an original disc that I need to get? Thanks again!

Most Laptops have custom or specific drivers for display audio etc that don't come with windows. You would need to go to the Panasonic website and download them.
I did a quick google and found this.....
try there and download all drivers for your model and stick them on a memory stick if you have one or burn them to a CD.

Try hitting F8 right when Windows starts up. You will get a text menu with options. Try "last known good configuration" and see if that helps. If it doesn't you may be able to get it working by reinstalling XP and choosing "Repair",which will try and replace all your windows files with the original ones.

If that doesnt work then you will have to reload XP from scratch. If you have to do that then install service pack 2 before any other software or drivers.

Panasonic toughbook cf-48 two batteries went bad within a day

Place battery in freezer for 2 hours / remove and recharge, might make it last longer. (Removes any "memory" in them)

Might be worth checking the charger to ensure its working OK. Just becuase the light is on doesn't always mean its working.

If you remove the CMOS battery for about 30 seconds, replace it, and boot the system. Password should now be gone.

Panasonic Cf-48 toughbook pentium 4 windows

I don't know what version of windows your running but try first going into the bios on your laptop and disabling your adapter. Then see if you can boot windows to try and find out if it is a hardware or software problem. If you can boot windows after disabling in bios you have some idea now what to look for. Instructions for how to enter bios should be in your manual for your Toughbook or posted on Panasonic's web site for your machine
