Question about Philips 9P5034C 50" Rear Projection Television

Magnavox Projection Convergence

HELP ! I have a Magnavox Projection 9P5034 C101 and I replaced the convergence IC's and now I cannot adjust convergence. When I try to move the crosses in the direction needed they wont move. Convergence will not adjust and still have a wave in screen. Before repair I could adjust red and green crosses but not blue, now all 3 will not adjust. I was told in previous posting to check the resistors and they checked ok. Double checked solder joints and they are good. Anything else to check ? Is there a certian procedure on checking resistors still soldered into board ? Maybe installed bad IC's ? There was fuses mentioned in previous posting, what kind of fuses ? THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

Was the screen wavy when you first tried convergence before replacing the amps? I am having that problem right now where everything is wavy and I can't get them to converge. Where did you get the amps?

You may have had another problem if the screen was wavey. This is typicaly caused by the opto chip. Check www.magnavoxhelp.com for more details.

My tv is a magnavox and we bought it about 3 years ago and it is now showing like a double picture the color is hazy and pinkish looking the model is 51MP392H/17

The problem of your unit is the convergence. Try to adjust it using the original remote control in the setting menu, then goto the convergence section adjust the red and blue convergence, you should move red and blue UP, DOWN and LEFT or RIGHT, if you cannot move them far enough the convergence IC is defective, replacing this IC will restore the original setting of your tv. This convergence IC is attach to a large aluminum plate it is the heat sink this IC has a marking of STK-#### followed by numbers, remember be careful when replacing this IC you may accidentally tampered or damage the PCB and cause much damage to your unit. Or you can contact a technician to do it for you and save you from stress good day and best regards. Try to check this link for the convergence http://www.google.com.ph/search?q=convergence+ic&hl=tl&sa=X&tbm=isch&prmd=ivns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=798&bih=472&ech=1&psi=JZdtTvDCPIe4iAe72sTABA.1315804977740.3&emsg=NCSR&noj=1&ei=MpdtTpa4OKKSiQfBpcjGBA

Picture looks curved on screen not flat and straight across. Images have pink and green streaks on them. We lined up the convergence as best we could but its not perfect and the screen still looks curved.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Need the correct convergence IC number for my Phillips Phillips Magnavox rear projection tv P6034C. I am getting the double picture syndrome . It also appears as if I cannot adjust the red convergence...

Thats not the full model number should be something like 43P6034C or etc. Please respond to this same post and I will let you know the correct Ics and resistors because phillips / magnavox will always burn at least 2 often 4 of the convergence resistors as well.

Blue Color Convergence wont adjust

yes by all means . I will post a link where you can get your replacement ICs along with free installation instructions with pictures. They also provide free on-line instant messaging while your doing the repair which only takes about an hour from start to finish. I am one of the support techs. Your model uses STK392-110 or STK392-120 either IC interchanges with each other except the 120 is a better IC runs cooler.Heres the link. You will need to replace both ICs

Find a universal remote with a menu and four arrow keys, b/c Philips is out of the original. Or, you could call Philips and find the number for one of their authorized centers - a TV repair man may have a stockpile of them from cust's who abandon their TVs.

Magnavox Projection Model # 9P5034 C101

Yes you will need to discharge any electrical equipment before working. One way of doing this is keep equ. unplugged for sometime or after unplug short hot to ground which will most times cause a spark. You can go to vancebaldwin.com or andrewelectronics.com or any online parts store and get the part number off old IC, yes these are on the convergence module. They are big STK's, also there are resistors that will need to be changed and maybe pico fuses.
