I ave windows XP. I connect via USB and and my computer does not "find new hardware. Have tried turing mp3 off before and after connecting to computer and niether works. Unit turns on, reads "starting" then reads "delstar" then I get an arrow symbol showing mp3 to computer for about 1 second. Then i get a broken line connection (two lines broken like a "not connected current" then goes back to the arrow for about 1 more second like it is trying to connect again, the line is broekn. In the upper right hand corner is a battery type icon in lime green that flashes like it is trying to connect and then after a while it stays solid lime green but the connection line from mp3 player to computer is still broken and i never get the "found new hardware either in the my computer or the desk top nor in the task bar in the bottom. Unit simply will not connect to my computer. Have other mp3 player and flash type devices and have never had this problem before. Could my MP3 Delstar device be defective or is there some other trick? I bought this in Dallas for my neice and I Live in Austin TX, a 5 hour drive. Was going to mail this back to her so I hope this unit is NOT defective. PLease help. Oh by the way i just saw the unit type I am typing all this under and mine is DS 1700 series. I had the same problem with a Delstar DS1703 MP3 player. Resolved my problem by replacing the USB cable. It works great now.

The unit should come w/a mini cd of the current driver. if not, drivers are available for download online. windows 2000 and xp will automatically recognize 'new hardware' when you connect the unit to your computer's usb port. look for usb icon in the sys tray (lower right corner of your desktop) it shows that the unit has been found.

1. open 'my computer' and look for, nost likely, (E) drive. that is the delstar unit. leave the window open and adjust the window size to long and narrow.

2. open 'my documents' scroll to 'my music' or go to where ever your music files are stored. leave the window open and adjust the window size so that your two open windows are side by side.

3. simply right click a song file (.mp3), select 'copy.'

4. move your cursor to the (E) drive window. right click in the open area and click 'paste.'
-- simple as that!

Need to get Delstar DS 4327 to work with Wndows XP

Install the Delstar software BEFORE you plug it into your computer. Then, plug the delstar into your computer. Otherwise, XP drivers will override the manufacturer's drivers.
