4Ga wire should be plenty for your application.
If you're concerned - run (2) lengths of 4Ga - its cheaper than 0.
A battery only extends the playing time of your system with the vehicle off.
Your car runs off alternator power - and it is recommended you upgrade the alternator to a High capacity one to properly supply voltage to your amplifier.
A capacitor is a cheap bandaid that will prolong the life of your stock alternator - but eventually - the alternator will die from the lage demands placed on it.
Put the battery and cap money toward a High Output alternator.

I have 2 15 inch L5 solo baric subs and need a amp?

the 15" l5 is rated at 750 watts rms so i suggest you get an amp with atleast that much power because if you get a amp weaker than that you run the risk of clipping your subs and blowing them

Amp goes into protection

make sure the impedance is right for the amp you're using. If you're using a 4ohm amp and a 2ohm sud that may be the problem. It may be overdriving the amplifer which is bad and can cause damage to the amp. Hope this helps.

Trying to install a subwoofer on a 97 crown vic

Make sure you are using a 12volt DC system in both units. It may sound simply but an AC sub may need an inverter. Also check grounds.

Solo x 10 dual 2 ohm smells burnt and smoke

there is no such speaker as a solo-X L5.
The Solobaric L5 is 450Watts RMS and 900 Peak.
Check your documentation, and no warranty except Massive Audio covers Burned Voicecoils as it is deemed customer abuse.
If it is a typo, and not an L5, your combination (as long as each is level matched) should be ok to run on that sub. When wiring it as you describe, the two amplifiers need to be identically matched in order for both coils to play at the same level.
Seek professional installations so your warranty is intact.
