Whirlpool model #WFW9150W front load washer. Washer makes lots of noise when operating

If it sounds like a freight train in spin cycle most likely it is your bearings. If it makes a clunking noise during the wash cycle you have a broken support. The best way to tell is to spin the basket by hand and listen for the noise. Check to see if the basket is making circles and not ovals. Pull back the rubber seal and look signs of the basket rubbing against the outer plastic tubs. If is either one of these it is cheaper to buy a new washer than to fix it. Fixing it involves rebuilding the machine. If it only makes the noise when it starts to drain you need to check your pump for foreign objects.

Drum appears to be loose and makes a lot of noise when on the spin cycle

With the washer empty, spin the wash tub by hand. The drum should be spin true without any noticeable wobbling and spin without much noise. If it wobbles or makes any kind of rubbing or banging noise as you turn it by hand. The problem is that the spider support arms are broken. It is an expensive repair job since the washer has to be completely torn apart and the wash drum needs to be replaced. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace. Sorry.

Loud noise (like a generator) when the washing machine goes into Rinse Cycle and Spin Cycle. What is wrowg with it and what parts needs to be replaced ?

Will it go through the wash cycle now? If it does, then it's more than likely the transmission. If it makes the noise in wash cycle now, it's probably the motor coupler.

  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
  • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
  • If the above does not correct the problem, replace the pump.

Bad noise at begining of rinse cycle.

It sounds like your gear case (transmission) has gone bad. If the washer fills and agitates that tells me that the problem cannot be with the motor coupling and drive motor. It also rules out a pump problem if the washer completes a wash cycle and drains properly. The only thing left is the gears inside the transmission. Sometimes they go bad in a way that portions of the wash will work while others don't. The part number is 3360629 and the price usually runs about $150. I hope this may help you in some way.
