Question about Panasonic PT-47WX49 47" Rear Projection Television

Screen will not come on

MY panasonic tv model # PT-53wx42f screen will not come. It appears for a second then it flashes off with a line appearing across the screen. Then the red light at the bottom continues to flash on and off. Can you assist me with this?

Is there a reset button or something on this TV, or is the tube blown, or what?

Sounds like your convergence chips are going. Unless you are real handy with soldering iron I would suggest having a tv repair shop service it(probably cost $200-300). If you are handy then I believe the chips you need are Sanyo STK392-110. There should be 2 of them. be careful if you order them online, there are lots of chinese knock-offs out there.

Panasonic PT-53WX42F Picture Problem. Color Distortion.

Your TV most likely has a Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.
