Re: ink transfer

Hi there have you tried changing the toner cartridge? if not please do so as this can sometimes cause this fault, but the most common cause is the fuser unit at the rear of the machine where the toner is welded to the paper. The top roller gets worn and causes the ghosting. The only way to stop this is to replace the fuser unit which you can purchase and is still cheaper than a new machine.

Thanks J

Hp 5550 patchy print

Most of the cases fuser assembly or supplies are causes of ghost image. If image is not properly transferring on media causes transfer roller or ETB.
Do this small exercise: Give print command, wait till paper grabs, once paper entered in cartridge area, power it off, open top & front cover, remove paper and see the print quality.Observed any ghost image what you observed? No ghost image? then problem with fuser assembly..

1.Remove fuser assembly, check any toner particles deposited on surface of fuser transfer roller or heater roller.. if found clean carefully with good cotton cloth while fuser having certain temperature,pl avoid metal & sharp objects to clean..
2. Clean paper path roller(You can observe the rollers to push the paper to reach the destination)
I hope this exercise will resolves the issue..

Ghost printing

You have a worn image drum. The drum is the part of the printer that the print image is created on before it transfers the toner to the paper. This part is coated with a very thin layer of Teflon so the toner does not stick. When it gets worn the toner starts to stick and that produces the shadow or ghost image approximately 3 inches down the page because the diameter of the drum roller is 3 inches. You will need to get the part DR-350, Office Depot has them as well as many places on the internet.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Printed image repeats later

I have a Dell 5100CN, and believe that this problem is caused by the drum not releasing the full charge which holds the ink in place on the drum until the page is printed. After the image is transfered to the Drum, the 'Fuser' unit heats up the paper and pressure forces the paper against the drum to transfer the toner from the drum to the paper.

Since the Image is printing, and you are getting a ghost, I guess that the problem is most likely the 'Pressure Roller' or 'Heater' in the 'Fuser' unit.

Buying the Fuser unit from Dell could cost you around $200 from Dell, but I just found one on eBay for $129 Got to and search for item number 190388919845

I highly recommend that you buy a new OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer (Genuine Dell)) 'Fuser Unit'

Good Luck

Poor print quality

The "ghost" image is "burned" onto the drum.

A laser printer is supposed to charge specific "dots" on the drum, and the toner-ink is supposed to stick only to those "dots", the paper is pressed against the drum, and then the "fuser" uses heat to "melt" the toner-ink onto the paper, to produce the printed page.

You need to replace the drum.

I'm getting ghost images on multi prints to the point it is unreadable, is this the drum or fuser?

The only way to tell is to start a print and power off when print is still inside. If you see the ghost before the fuser it's the drum, if clean before the fuser, it's the fuser. You can also open the back door and look at the fuser roller with a light, the fuser roller should be clean but if the roller has images it's time for a fuser.

The printer is transferring ink from the top left of the paper all the way down in line with the rollers. It looks like a smudge but you can see the print. I have cleaned it, but still has the problem. Any...

Image problems on laser printers are almost always caused by the toner cartridge or the fuser. If you have already tried a new toner cartridge and that has not fixed the problem you need a new fuser. A fuser that is going bad will cause lines, smudges and ghost images. You can buy it alone or as part of the maintenance kit. is a good place for HP parts. Search by model number to see what you need.

Iron on transfers lexmark x1290

In your printer driver, select the highest dpi setting and the correct paper setting for your type of printer:

Iron-ons are very waxy and the ink may not adhere if not put on thickly. Bellow are some suggested printer settings. For the best results check your printer manual or with your printer's manufacture. CANON: T-shirt transfers.
EPSON: High quality glossy paper or special coated paper, depending on the model.
HEWLETT-PACKARD: High quality glossy paper.
Lexmark: T-shirt transfers.
IMPORTANT: Then set the paper thickness lever on your printer for standard paper. You want the ink nozzles very close to the page.
