LF Code Has anyone ever had this code come up? I have already followed what the manual says to do, and it is still giving me this code. Any suggestions? Thanks

Water initially enters the tub, however only for a short time. After a small amount of water enters, the motor just hums and nothing else happens.

Screens have been checked and are not plugged.

    Water is turned on

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

No, I have not checked the pressure switch. What does it look like, and what am I looking for?

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

    Ok,

I have checked both hoses and they have plenty of pressure. The drain and spin also works. I am ready to open the top.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Ok, got the knife and tape.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

The washer is a year and a half old. ready when you are.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

The machine is showing a F51 Code.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Do you work for whirlpool? If you don't, you should.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Thanks for all your help. Do you know where I can get an RPS? IF not, at least I can throw the BS flag when the repair guy comes out.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

No luck with the warranty section, it only shows the standard 1 year warranty. I was told today over the phone I should replace the control board altogether. Should I go that extreme, or just do the RPS?

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

A repair guy that could not get on base to my house said he just fixed one of these last week for the first time and that is what he had to replace to get it to work. Sounds like you know a bit more than he does though.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Oh yeah, my model actually has a 0 at the end of it versus the T stated in this post. Is that an issue?

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Unfortunately it is not under warranty. I am going to order the RPS for 36.00. Does this part go on the bottom of the washer?

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

It's kind of funny, the clean machine cycle will dispense water for about 5 minutes, and then just get stuck and hum. Very frustrating.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Yeah, it was a code 51. Cool, when I get the part, I will let you know. Once again, thanks for all your help.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 14, 2008

Cool, I am Active Duty Air Force, I don't see why we can't get along lol.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 15, 2008

Sounds awesome, I will reply once the part gets here.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

Well, I got the RPS in today and replaced the old one. Pretty easy to do, the only problem is that it did not fix my washer.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

My washer has the sixth sense technology. The tub does spin by hand and it does follow the drain and spin cycle.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

I just realized that the washer seems to freeze during the add detergent phase. What could that be?

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

Yeah, I think you are right. However, now it works in different modes...Whites=no, Darks=yes. It is being very erratic and I am packing it in for the night. Once I get that part, I will let you know how it goes.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

I will check the hose. The washer is acting erratically right now. Sometime it will work, sometimes it wont on different cycles. Drain and spin does work all the time though.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 18, 2008

No different with the hose. I really am wondering if it is the control board due to the erratic nature of its operation.

No different with the hose. I really am wondering if it is the control board due to the erratic nature of its operation.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 19, 2008

No dice on unplugging everything and plugging back into control panel. One thing I did find funny is the power button has L/F written on the back of it.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 19, 2008

No, it shows up on the display, but when you take the console apart the power button has L/F permanently stamped on it. Normally you would never see it....

  • Tyler Danley Jan 20, 2008

Well, I replaced the control board today and that did not fix it either. I guess I will order the log valves and see if that works. No more whirlpool products for me.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 20, 2008

I just read on another forum that the valves are the problem. I looked up the part on the internet and it is on backorder everywhere. Might be on to something.

  • Tyler Danley Jan 20, 2008

OK, sounds good, I will be here.

  • Tyler Danley Mar 23, 2008

A new set of log control valves fixed the problem.

LF flashes when the water level does not change for a period of time after the valves are turned on OR water has disengaged
the basket but control does not detect a water level change.
• Is water supply connected and turned on?
• Are hose screens plugged?
• Is water entering the tub? If so check pressure hose connection to machine/motor control.

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

get a pencil and piece of paper we are going to run the auto diagnostics

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

be sec man i lost the post am working on it

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

    ACTIVATION OF AUTOMATIC

    DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE

    1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode

(plugged in with all indicators off, or with

only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator

    on).

    2. Select any one button (except POWER,

START, and STOP) and follow the steps

below, using the same button (remember

    the button):

    Press/hold

    3 seconds

    Release for

    3 seconds

    Press/hold

    3 seconds

    Release for

    3 seconds

    Press/hold

    3 seconds

If this test mode has been entered successfully,

    all indicators on the console

are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88

showing in the Estimated Time Remaining

    two-digit display.

If indicators do not display as described

    above, the press/hold/release

procedure above may not have been

performed within the time frame necessary

    for successful entry. Repeat step

2 to ensure this was not the cause. If

    still unsuccessful, see Diagnostic: Unsuccessful

    Entry.

    3. The program then checks for saved fault

    codes:

If there are saved fault codes, see Diagnostic:

    Saved Fault Codes.

If there are no saved fault codes, all

indicators on the console will momentarily

turn off, then turn back on with 88

displayed. After 5 seconds, the Automatic

    test begins.

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

ok that's a rotor position sensor failure which could set the long fill code so the long fill code is really a false code the washer things its getting a long fill because when the pressure switch which measures the water amount in the tub tell the rps im full start the wash the rps says duh and the motor dont know its time to wash so the on board computer thinks its taking a long time to fill because it don't sense the motor running but the simple thing is replace the rps ok

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

im factory authroized for the all the major mfg for 26 years i was a factory tech for 15 for frigidare

and my wife is as good as i am lol

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

its really not that hard to install you can get one from whirlpool but first read the warrenty in your owners guide to se if it might be under an extended warrenty should be under 2-5th year warrenty section

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

man thats hard to say i would go with the rps who told you to do the whole control board

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

well im not in the Field no more but if your out of warranty we can do it im disabled now but i love machines and have read the tech manuel on this unit and in theory they are beautiful and so simple trust me on that now if you want to go with him ask him if he will guarantee that replacing the control bd will fix it and if he will ask him if it don't he will fix it at his expense that will show the truth but other than that we can check the rps if you have a volt ohm meter i got access to all the specs and can walk you through it i got notrhing but time

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

if your under warrenty let them deal with it tell him control bd ok but bring rps sensor too

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

on the bottom bro im with you its not a big deal to put on you tape the washer lid sut then lay the washer on its back to acess rps from the bottom certain parts have extended warrentiess when looking at warrenties look at second through fifth year may get them to pay for the part but not labor but when you get the part just reply and ill bring up the tech manuel and we will do it step by step

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

you ran the diagnostic tests like i would have what did it say code 51 right

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

ps im an ex marine hoooo rah semper fi

  • robert samples Jan 14, 2008

no sweat stars and bars for ever listen even if the rps don't work and we have to replace the control which remains to be seen you will still come out on labor costs if it gets to freaky i know the technical engineers at Whirlpool personally no telling what i can do lets go for it lol

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

also look closely at the tub to see if a foreign object has fallen in one and is jamming the inner tub

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

the only thing left if it don't rinse or agitate would be the pressure switch that's what tells the washer its full and to start the motor

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

that's interesting lets see how the dispense works i know some washers have a magnetic switch in the dispensor houseing that wont let the washer operate if that switch is bad or the drawer isnt closed

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

im still thinking pressure switch check the fill level

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

ill be with ya till its done standing by but dont you love how simple this machine is

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

check to see if your drain hose is too far down in your drain that will siphon water out and cause a long fill also put clothes in the washer and try a wash cycle you can always drain and spin

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

also the washer wont operate with the lid open

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

the control bd is all that can be if the program is bad you can go to the site and look at service bullitens to see if any have been issued

  • robert samples Jan 18, 2008

hey before replacing the control brd try unplugging and replugging all the connectors a few times some times corrosion or a loose connector can cause this

  • robert samples Jan 19, 2008

is the start button where you keep seing the lf code

  • robert samples Jan 20, 2008

let me call whirlpool technical monday and see whats up and ill get back to you just chill for a couple of days ok

  • robert samples Jan 20, 2008

have you tested the lid switch to see if its working but you said it drains and spins and have you put a load of clothes in it since the control bd as it uses clothes load to sense water fill and how much water is comming in

  • robert samples Jan 20, 2008

well thats possiable but i dont see why it dont set a code for them the cpu is supposed to check them but that dont mean a whole lot in this bussiness ill ask whilrpoolm technical this monday i know them personally and get back to you if they are on back order may be i can get them to send you some

What do I need to do to fix the Lf code problem on my oasis washer?

Following is the LF troubleshooting response from the Whirlpool Cabrio
Service Manual. The Cabrio is the same as the Kenmore Oasis.

“LF” (Washer is taking too long to fill)
Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?
Are the water inlet valve screens clear?
Are both water faucets turned on?
Is the drain hose sticking too far into the
standpipe (siphoning)?
Is the pressure transducer hose kinked or
dislodged?
Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear display.

It takes a while to load but following is the manual in PDF format.

Washer has LF error?

Lf means Long Fill This error code is displayed if the control failed to save cycle information during a power failure. This does not generate an error code beep.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Good luck

Have same problem. Service tech said LF code is caused by low water pressure coming into machine. Tech verified water flow looked fine, getting new controller installed tomorrow.

Kenmore Elite model #110 27082601

In reference to the LF error code on your Kenmore Washer

When your washer displays error LF , it is due to low water pressure, slow or continuous fill.All washers are designed to operate with a water supply pressure of 20-100 PSI. When the pressure drops below 20 PSI the washer can have the following problems;

* Slow Fill- low water pressure reduces the speed at which water flows into the machine.
o Verify the pressure at all other water sources in the house (i.e. sinks, showers, etc..). If you find other places where the pressure is low, the problem is not with the machine but with the water supply.
* Continuous Fill- The valve may not fully seat under 20 PSI which would allow for a constant flow even when the machine isn't supposed to be filling.
o Contact the water company to verify the pressure being supplied to the house
* Error Codes- LF for long fill or FH for no water detected.
o A plumber may need to be consulted if the pressure is found to be too low.

Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?

Recalibration is not needed but, you will need to check the above hoses and valves for obstructions and kinks.

Kenmore Oasis has LF code on and won't reset

The LF code indicates "Long Fill" which means it is taking too long for the water to fill the washer (times out). From the owner's manual:

"LF" (Washer is taking too long to fill)
Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?
Are the water inlet valve screens clear?
Press STOP to clear display.

Here's a suggestion I found that worked for me:

Check your drain hose to see it it's stuffed too far down the standpipe. Another poster had this problem and it gave her LF errors. If the drain hose hangs down too far it can siphon water out of the washer, and then the washer thinks it's taking too long too fill. There's supposed to be a U-shaped plastic bracket that sets the length of the drain hose where it goes into the standpipe. Your installer may have tossed it.

Kenmore Oasis HE 2708..LF error code

LF = Long Fill
If the water is on and screens are clean there is a test you can do to check the log valve. There should be a repair manual inside the front panel of the machine. If yo use a screw driver in the front to open the top you should find it on the inside of the front panel. Good Luck
