Re: Hi I am trying to connect a netgear DG834G router...

You will have to connect the netgear through a cat5 cable. Connect to the back of the pc and into one of the for same ports on the back of the netgear. Once you have done this open internet explorer and type in the address bar that is the default ip code for that kind of router. once asked for the username and password type he following

Username : Admin
Password : password

Once in there goto basic settings and fill in all the information that you need.

If doesn't work there is a little whole on the back of the router using a paper clip insert and press the button. This will reset the router back to defaults. You can download the manual from

Thanks J

The netgear router installation will set up the internet connection during install.

I have an Acer Aspire 8.9....and I need to know what type of router I need to go wireless. I purchased one from Netgear, but it has a disc that must be installed and adapter that has to be used {with...

Aspire one does not have a CD/DVDROM however you can use another computer to be able to setup your router. You can probably ask a friend to use his/her laptop that has a CD/DVD ROM. After setting up the router, you can connect your Acer Aspire by letting it detect the wireless signal and connecting to your router wirelessly.

**You can also try to insert the installer disc on another PC and copy all the contents of the CD/DVD installer of the Netgear into a USB flash Drive. Plug the USB flash Drive into your Acer then run the setup file inside and follow the instructions.

on your router install cd there was an option to set WEP access. If you can get to this just disable WEP key security feature or type in the address bar the routers url- this will get you to the routers setup utility.

Netgear WGR614

First thing I did with my Netgear is this.
Plug in the dsl/cable modem to the PC directly. Then install the driver on the cd. If you are one of the unlucky types like I was, the router didn't come with a cd. Try going to Netgers page see if they have a driver. Most are basically auto install. Try this before you check the netgear site though. Plug in the cable/dsl modem to the router and the pc to the router. Resstart everything. This includes the modem, router and pc. When it pops back up, try seeing if that works. if not, try opening up Internet explorer. Type this in to the url. or
That should bring up the netgear setup page for the router. If it ask for a password, the password on mine was
username - admin
password - password
It has an auto configure tab so click on that and that should automatically take care of everything for you. Let me know what happens!
