slide the hold switch on and off a couple of times...then press and hold menu and center buttons till an apple logo comes on screen...connect to system and restore with itunes.
First make sure that your iPod’s hold button isn’t on. This is the little switch at the top left corner of the iPod video that you can move to “lock” the iPod’s buttons. If this is on, you’ll see a little orange area at the top of the iPod nano and a lock icon on the iPod’s screen. If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem.
If the hold switch wasn’t the problem do the following:
Move the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.
Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart the iPod nano. You’ll know the iPod is restarting when the screen changes and the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn’t work at first, you should repeat step 4
I know what you mean. I have a siver 8gb nano and the exact thing just happen to me today. I'm looking for a solution however if you find one please post it as i need help to
hold down the menu and play / pause button for a good 5 or more seconds until it prompts you ( assuming it has power ) ie connected to a usb port or the battery is fully charged.
If that does not help then the screen is possibly damaged or something inside is stopping from the screen working so you will need to go to an apple store or where ever you purchased it from to get it replaced / fixed.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
you can try to run the batteries down or you can try to open it, disconnect the battery and connect it again, before closing it see if the unit was reseted.
