CANNOT LOCATE FILTERS ON AC UNIT

Usually the filter is inside the heater housing. You remove the heater access door which should have a safety switch that opens when you remove the panel, thereby removing power from the electrical system on your unit. The filter, if there is one will be below the fan motor on an upflow heater. You should be able to see the filter when you open the heater access panel.

There should also be a filter in your return air duct or at the grille. The sizes of the filters are usually on the side of the filters.

If this helped you please take the time to write a short testimonial.

AC runs for 5 minutes and then circuit breaker

What else do you have running on hydro while AC is running? Such as coffee maker, microwave, water heater, fridge. That 30 amp breaker is your main breaker I assume, or breaker on pole your plugged in to. Keep in mind your AC will normally draw approx. 15-17+ amps momentarily when compressor kicks in to cool, then drop back to 12-15 amps when running normal. If your AC is drawing too much current, then you would only normally trip 20 amp breaker for AC in your panel. Try switching other appliances to gas operation while running AC, such as water heater, and fridge. Make sure incoming voltage is up to specs as well . (115-120 volts)
If water heater takes 5-8 amps, and fridge takes same when they are calling for power, you'll be close or over the 20amp mark when you consider your on board converter etc. as well. That only leaves approx 10 amps for AC that requires approx 15 amps to run, and up to 20amps when compressor kicks in. If you switch all those other items over to propane, and it still happens, then a current draw test should be done on AC unit to see if perhaps a capacitor is faulty, or possible compressor faulty.

We have a Weatherking Heater/AC unit the heater works and the AC worked last summer when we tried the furnace this winter no heat found out it was the 24 volt transformer replaced it and heat worked fine...

I think you have a definite short and it's in the 24 volt circuit. The only problem is - 'finding a low voltage short' is not the easiest thing in the world to do - so - I would guess you'd need a Service Tech.

good luck!

Heater and AC run even though thermostat is off

It sounds like you have a short in the control unit at the ceiling pack. Remove the inner shroud from the AC and pull down the control unit. Remove the cover from the control unit to access the relays. With the thermostat off, check for power at the white (or orange depending on the unit) wire coming from the thermostat to the relay board. Also check power from the yellow and gray wires from the thermostat to the control board. None of these should be hot with the thermostat off. If there is power then you have a short in the wiring between the tstat and the upper unit. If there is no power, then you have a bad control board.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Blower fan wont shut off

Try cycling the switch at the furnace to reset the blower board. If this doesn't work remove the green wire from the blower board(computer board) to eliminate a shorted t-stat or shorted wire between the furance and t-stat. If blower remains on, then blower board is shorted. I've seen all these problems.

Replaced Fuse on Board. Unit keeps running

Sounds like crossed or shorted wire going to the thermostat. Disconnect the wire from the thermostat and see if it shuts off. If it does, it is the thermostat. Then disconnect either the white wire or red wire at the control board and see if the furnace shuts off. If it does, its the wiring. If it continues on, it is the control board. Remember you will need to tape the access panel door switch to the on position to be able to run the furnace with the panel off.
