Have you tried, system restore to a previous date when the touchpad was working?

You can also try and uninstall drivers and reinstall in Safe Mode, make sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer.

Cannot figure out how to restore the touchpad functionality on my hp6730b

Try pressing the function button + F7

FN + F7 - this is if you have all the proper drivers installed.

There are several "functions" that laptops have that help to minimize the keyboard size, they add these functions by holding the function key and pressing the corresponding function that you would like to perform. I do not have your specific model, however there generally is a "function" to disable the touchpad for people who type frequently and use a mouse.

Cursor moving text when i type.

it is possible that is true. from time to time, mouse/touchpad cursors will also move on their own while it is calibrating itself... i have fat finger syndrome with those stupid touchpads myself and the same thing happens to me. you should just be able to go into your device manager, right click on the peripheral name, and disable it.

Control panel flashes F7

Hello,

The F7 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F7 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced .

My mouse and think pad do not work

There are 2 possible answers to this common issue, the first is that the aspire has a mouse lock. check your keyboard on the function buttons for a picture of a mouse with a line though it, hit function and at the same time press the mouse with the line through it and if its locked off this will turn if back on. The second answer is driver issues, if the first suggestion dont work I would go to the Acer website click on downloads and drivers and enter your model number. Then download and install your think-pad and mouse pad drivers and install.

The mouse pad has stopped working on my sons emachines e430 how can i get it start working again???????

Hi there,

At the top of the keyboard there is a touchpad toggle button (enables and disables the touchpad) that may automatically be disabled at boot time.

You will see just above the keyboard three oval silverish buttons the first one on the left is to enable or disable the touchpad.

Here's the official site for the manual showing all the function keys and features:

Mousepad not working

Hello,

Each Touchbad should have basic functionality by default in every Operating system, letting it be used even when no driver is installed. However, try pressing FN and F7 together and see if the touchpad works again. Some people accidently press this FN + F7 key when they mute the sound with the FN + F8 key.

The FN + F7 is there to disable/enable the touchpad as some people use a USB mouse instead of the touchpad.

If you still need the drivers, here are the download links. Please choose desired driver by Operating system and Touchpad brand...

Touchpad not responding in netboook

There's a little button right above the touchpad. If the light on this button is orange, the touchpad is disabled. Press it again until the light is white again and your touchpad should work.

Touchpad doesn't work

Look at your Function keys (F1-F12). There should be a icon of a touchpad or something similar on one of the keys. Most likely it is F7.

If you can find it, press the Function button (FN, next to CTRL) and F7 (or whatever key designates the touchpad), and see if this enables it.

If not, go to your control panel and click mouse properties. THere may be a tab for the touchpad where you can enable/disable it.
