Question about Sony Ericsson K800i Cellular Phone

1 Answer

I can't transfer files to upload pictures to my pc using usb cable

I'm working with windows xp and have installed PC suite for Sony Ericsson k800.After plugging in the USB cable to phone and PC Choosing file transfer ,it only tells me not to disconnect the usb.(this is taking 1/2 AN HOUR??!!) Apparantly also the pc is not able to recognize my phone. and says no device connected though properly plugged in.Basicly nothing shows up to pc so I wonder do I need to install PCsuite again? I've been reading somewhere that the phone memory can be corrupted what does that mean and can that be on influence of the problem? thank you in advance. L.R.J.

Go to Sony site and download the driver for your phone
http://ma3-origin.extranet.sonyericsson.com/drivers/
Step 1
Remove data cable from usb and put it into a different one
Step 2
Connect your phone to the computer with the cable and turn it on.
You might see "Found New Hardware" wizard. DON'T let Windows search for the driver; point it to the driver you just downloaded, and install the drive on your computer.
After the driver as installed you should be working 100%

What software I will use to download songs, photo and movies from PC to my Sony Ericsson 310i model mobile phone

The solution is Sony Ericsson PC suite. Can be downloaded free of charge from here.

After installation, plug in your phone using the provided USB cable and wait for the Windows to install drivers. Then run the PC suite and explore different options.

If your phone has the ability to be connected in mass storage mode, choose it when you wish to transfer large files.

How to install pc suite for windows xp ( nokia 5310)

To install the PC Suite with Windows® XP If you use Windows® XP on your computer, you may need to install two hot fixes on your computer to use your phone with the PC Suite. If so, the PC Suite will ask you to install the Microsoft® software hot fixes during the installation. To install the hot fixes for Windows® XP:
  1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
  2. On the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, a USB connection window appears. Select PC Suite.
  3. On the computer: Click PC Suite on the autoplay pop-up to start the installation. If no autoplay pop-up appears, see the instructions below to access the installation software drivers.
  4. In PC Suite, click on the first hot fix (KB943198), which re-directs you to the Microsoft® support site to download the hot fix.
    URL: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f2f0a7c2-3b44-4d2e-9640-e0d21818763e&DisplayLang=en
Note:Before you download, make sure that you choose the same language for the hot fix that is set on your Windows® XP language settings.
  5. Follow the installation instructions.
Note: The computer may restart after the first hot fix is installed.
  6. Return to PC Suite and click the second hot fix (KB945436), which re-directs you to the Microsoft® support site.
    URL: http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=945436&kbln=en-us
Note:Before you download, make sure that you choose the same language for the hot fix that is set on your Windows® XP language settings.
  7. Request the fix to be e-mailed to you and enter your e-mail address.
  8. Go to your e-mail client and open the e-mail. Click the link to the hot fix.
  9. Click Run to the File Download pop-up.
  10. Unpack the attached protected zip file. Click Ok to Microsoft Self-Extractor or select a source.
  11. Use the provided password included in the e-mail.
  12. Open the downloaded hot fix and follow the installation instructions that appear.
Note: If you run Windows® Vista, this problem installing PC Suite will not occur.
The drivers for the installation files are located on your memory card. The first time you connect your phone to a computer with a USB cable, a pop-up is often automatically shown on the computer.
To access the installation software drivers for PC Companion, PC Suite or Media Go:
  1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
  2. On the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, a USB connection window appears. Select Mass storage.
  3. On the computer: Click My Computer > PHONE CARD/Sony Ericsson PC Software > pccompanion > Startme.
  4. The PC starts to initiate the PC software installation. Follow the installation instructions that appear.
  5. When installation is complete, Sony Ericsson PC Companion will start.
Note: During installation, several pop-ups may appear about Device driver installation or trusted software. Click Yes/Continue/Next to finalise the installation.

PC SUITE installation

Some Operating Systems have well-known issues of being incompatible with many softwares and almost all PC suites from all the makers are not completely compatible with populare OSes. However, we don't need the PC Suite at all to upload/download to/from a multimedia mobile handset. Please select File Transfer mode when conncting the handset to the PC using an USB cable and transfer files browsing through the memory card (if detected, available from My Computer) from Windows.

Windows Vista: not compatible w/ PC suite

when you connect the phone through usb, the phone gives you a few options, including "transfer files" - choose this option and the phone would act like any other usb storage device.. this should work for transferring your pix. if you wish to be able to sync etc, there's an alternative (free) software, which I think is even better than the official pc suite.
