Try the following manual method to hard reset/format Nokia N95:
1) Turn off the mobile device. 2) Turn on the phone and quickly Press and Hold the following three buttons: the green Call Answer button, the “*” button, and the number “3′ button. keep holding the keys untill the mobile phone restarts and prompts you to enter details time and country.
Warning: Make sure the battery is at least 25% capacity so the phone will not power down during hard reset. ( Hard reset normally takes about 2 minutes only).
Warning: Hard reset will format everythings in your phone ( Your contact, calender, photos, installed Apps, Etc.) and the phone will be returned to its original state as if it was purchaced new.
Vibrate must be enabled for the profile you are in. You can change profiles by pushing the power button and not holding it down. As far as touch screens go, the Nokia N95 does not come with a touch screen on any version, if you had this capability then you must have a different phone or a fake N95. Hope this helps! Happy Hollidays!
I have tried to remove the vertical menu's while maintaining the horizontal shortcuts above, but it doesn't seem possible via the N95 menu. I'm sure there's a more extreme method, but that would be way too much of a pain....
Anyhow, if you would like to remove all of the shortcuts, here's the procedure (N95 non 8GB):
Settings -> General -> Personalisation -> Standby Mode -> Active Standby (OFF)
On my old N95, Settings are under "Tools" in the main menu, however, this may have changed on the newer versions. Although this may not strictly be the procedure for the 8GB version, hopefully it will help.

You can unlock it, but your contract will not go away. If you signed on the dotted line for 18 months or whatever, then that is when the contract will end.
Type *#06# to displays the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, that's the number required to unlock your phone. However your service provider could BLOCK it permanently.
Best thing to do is to first sync your device with Nokia Pc Suite and Outlook so you dont lose all your calandar information. Then either go to your local Nokia service center and have your device flashed. It will be as good as new. I believe Nokia also allows you upgrade your own firmware as well through thier web site. Look on the Nokia site for thier "software update" . If all fails, look in my profile, and im sure we can help you out.
