I bought an SVP FS1000 film scanner. The included software CD is only for Windows and I plan to use it with a Mac. I can't find any software to make the scanner work. When I plug in the USB connection, no icon appears on the desktop, so I think something is needed to recognize the scanner.

Go to the manufacturer website and download it. That model has a problem scanning film too much brightness and there is no way to control it. Taken apart it is simply a peek hole camera. Better to scan you film on a flatbed scanner.
