Question about LG 50PX1D 50 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

No Power On startup got a small pop and lost power to TV. Had tripped house breaker so I reset. Didn't help. Unplugged and let sit for 5 min.,plugged back in (directly into outlet). Still no power. Appears to be good power to outlet. Almost like it blew an internal fuse. Does it have one? Thank You- Dave

Re: No Power

There is a main AC fuse on the power supply bd. and a couple of ciramic fuses on both the ysus bd and the zsus bd. This symptom most of the time means either the ysus bd, the zsus bd. or both have failed. Difficult repair for a customer and most likely will need to have a qualified tech diagnose the problem. Most times it is the ysus that has failed and a realistic price to repair this is from 400 to 500 dollars.

I had a wall outlet circuit breaker tripping on me. After resetting the breaker, the TV wouldnt seem to turn on unless I unplugged the power cord and let it sit. It would come back on after a while.

Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Why wont my sharp lcd LC-32D44U turn on?

Well, there could a be few issues. First thing is to verify the breaker that gives power to that wall has not tripped off in the home's break power panel. If it is not tripped then verify the wall outlet that the TV is plugged into has a reset button, like a GFI (ground fault interrupt) If it does then verify that it has not tripped. If the GFI on the wall plug is tripped simply push the reset button back in and then try plugging in your TV power plug again. Then if that checks out or does not have a GFI outlet, verify that the power plug going into the back of the TV is not loose. Unplug and replug power plug that plugs into the back of the TV in and verify it is securely connected. Lastly, the power supply in the TV might have gone out.

Apex ld3249 shot sparks out and tripped the breaker

A nasty short somewhere or wrong voltage to set---do not keep plugging it in and tripping the breaker--in fact do not plug in at all until a technician examines it(tell him/her what the issue is).

To answer the question here: Dead short on or across the AC voltage line inside the set most likely of primary side of power supply.

My LG 19LH2000 LCD TV has no power, no lights nothing, completely dead, help!!

You may wish to try the unit in a different electrical outlet in another part of the house to ensure that the house's electrical breaker did not trip for that particular circuit. You can also test the wall socket with a voltmeter if you have one or you can just use a standard plug in reading lamp to confirm that you have power at the outlet.

If you do not have good power at the outlet, then you may just need to reset the breaker for that circuit at the house's main electrical panel.

If you do have good power at the plug, then it may just be a blown fuse in your TV. Many of these TV's have a small fuse holder built right into the rear plastic cover right where the power cable enters the enclosure which can be easily accessed without having to open up the whole TV enclosure. Just unplug the power to the set and gently pop open the little fuse holder cover to reveal the fuse inside. Here is a link to an image of a common type:

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

Then just check the fuse for continuity with a multimeter to see if it is bad. Replace it with a brand new one of equal value if necessary.

If your set does not have an external fuse, then you may have an internal power supply circuit board problem which will require some disassembly of the TV enclosure in order to access and troubleshoot.

Before you attempt any kind of disassembly or home repair, you should actually check with your retailer where you purchased the item about any possibility of a warranty return or exchange. If the warranty is already expired then you have nothing to lose by opening it up and having a look, assuming of course that you have at least some basic electrical safety knowledge and that you follow all the necessary precautions.

Good luck, I hope this was helpful.

Purchase new 32'' tv 2-day ago, will not work in a GFI plug outlet trips GFI each time you reset, is there something wrong with unit? works fine in a non GFI outlet

Good News!!! GFI outlets are made to trip when a large amount of power is pulled through them. A GFI is basically a small circuit breaker.Your television set is probably just pulling more amperage than the GFI is rated to handle. That means the GFI is working properly And so is the TV!

Won't power on...

The TV probably has an internal short, most likely in the power supply. If you open it, you will probably find the main fuse is blown (which is why it didn't trip the breaker again. Don't bother replacing the fuse until you find and fix the short - you'll just blow the new fuse and probably trip the breaker again.

32" visio tv tripping power throughout the house

I would have an electrician check to see if you have a grounding issue. Especially at the outlet that you have the power strip supply plugged in, Check to see what kind of your circuit panel is going to trip for electrical arc or electrical short. Newer panels should have both. Older just for electrical short. Have your electrician make sure your wiring is entirely copper, if it isn't and it's aluminum. Have him make sure the outlets are aluminum rated, and not designed for copper. Defintely check grounding. Good Luck
