Brother SE270D How does the case open? I have removed all visible screws, but it won't come apart. My problem is thread has wrapped around the hand wheel on the side and I can't get the thread out. The thread is inside of the case. Thank you for any help you can give me.

There is also a single screw on the bottom of the machine as well as one behind the bobbin winder, the last 'hidden" one is on the back side of the machine behind what woudl be the reverse button.

My machine model 9005, will not sew. The needle will not move. When I use the pedal I can hear it trying to sew

Betty, I hope you realize that any advice you get from anyone who is not actually seeing this is only an educated guess.

It sounds to me like there is nothing wrong with your motor because you can hear it. It's likely that there are threads wrapped around a part on the inside of the machine, preventing it from moving.

Again as a guess, there are three likely places--the bearing closest to the hand wheel, the thread path, and a gear under the bobbin case.

If you have a newer machine (1990s, maybe), it's likely that the cover over the thread path can be easily removed by removing one or two screws in the side and back. If there is one in the side, it may have a white disk over it for cosmetic purposes; you can pop that out by pressing on one side and the screw is underneath. Check to see if there are threads wrapped around something there. Then use a flashlight and see if you can see anything wrapped around the gear near the hand wheel. You may have to take the base off to see under the bobbin basket (holds the bobbin case), but that's usually not difficult either, and it gives you a chance to clean under there--there's usually all kinds of debris that gathers over time.

Keep the thread from collecting on the arm that holds the bobbin case in? My Brother LB-6800 sews quilts, and embroiders great until yesterday, The thread wraps around this small arm every time now.

Try taking the bobbin case out and re-insert. It sounds like the case that holds the bobbin is not inserted correctly. You might also try checking to be sure that the needle is inserted properly. Sometimes the needle gets loose and drops down too low. unscrew, push the needle up as far as it will go, then tighten the screw.

Replace the needle with a Schmetz needle. If that doesn't work you need to get it serviced

Bobbin winder shaft wont spin

If you take it apart, you'll void the remaining warranty. The usual cause is not getting the door open completely and/or thread wrapped around the spindle.

I have a E20 Huskystar I was sewing elastic, the machine pulled to many threads into the bobbin case. I pulled out the threads and the thread take up doesn't work now. The machine gets hung up at the...

Thread in the bobbin area can be difficult to get out. Even though you do not see any there is thread wrapped around under the hook area. Shine a flashlight in there and look carefully. Often times you will see a piece of thread. Use tweezers to get it out, pull slowly while turning the wheel by hand. If you notice the thread not coming out, turn the wheel in the opposite direction.

Removing parts in the bobbin area will allow you to get at any thread that is hung up in there. The smallest of pieces can create havoc in there as you may find out. Before removing parts make sure you have a manual in case you forget how to put them back. Remove one piece at time and check for thread right after. No need to remove more than you have to.

You can either take the machine in for repairs or, use another sewing machine (if you have one that uses the same type of bobbin) for bobbin winding or purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder - search the Internet for the best price.

Cannot thread bobbin

If I remember correctly this machine has a little arm in the bobbin case area. You will need to open the slide plate, move that arm towards the middle of the bobbin. Thread your machine as normal, take the thread going through the needle eye and wrap it around the thumb screw a couple times, then start "sewing" your bobbin should begin filling, once started, you can release the thread wrapped around the thumbscrew. Once filled, you simply close the slide plate and that moves the arm back into place and start sewing.

Need timing instruction for brother SE270d

Your needle thread lock on the bottom of your fabric and your bobbin thread locks on top. If you are getting jamming in the bobbin it is caused by the needle thread. Thread your machine with the presser foot up this will ensure thread going between tension disks.

Adjusting Bobbin Tension

I looked forever to find this darn green bobbin screw. Around the opening for your bobbin is a plastic cover. If you slide it forward it will pop right off. Once you remove this, the bobbin case will lift right out. On the front you will see your green screw for adjusting your bobbin tension.
