I have installed a HP Photsmart C5280 All-in-one-printer within the last 7days. It has now come up with a display that states "Msg Command - Enter Special Combo". There are NO instructions in the Operating manual on how to deal with this fault. I have checked troubleshooting sites for similar but they affect other models of HP printer and not mine so the remedies are not the same. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is the resolution. Obviously the printer is under warranty and that may be my final resolution. Any help appreciated! This printer replaced a HP Photossmart 2575 All-in-one that had similar problems. I am not over-amoured with HP at this point in time!!

If you have the photosmart with a blue dash key, a grey dash key, and the green dash key, enter them in the order installed on the machine, blue, grey, green. that is the combo for the HP photosmart c4400 series and others.

Hello, my printer had several paper jams... Now, once the paper jams are gone, it skips and then shoots the paper out. I can not align the paper or calibrate it.

- Press and hold the "*" key.
- Press the "#" key and release both keys.
- Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo" then release the keys and press "1", "2" and "3" buttons in sequence.
- then you will get few options, now look for an option that says "System Menu or System Information" using arrows keys.
- Press "OK" on it & now look for "semi full re-set and press ok".
- Now printer will turn off and will turn on automatically after few seconds.
- Now printer will align it automaticaly.

Having difficulty getting my HP photosmart 3310 to print! Tried all the suggested reset options etc. even was able to get to the 'OVM reset', however, I'm still getting an ink failure msg... and when I...

Hi,

There are several special key combo for ex. 1-2-4 and 3-2-9 also 1-2-7 depending on the purpose of using it.

My suggestion would be,
Remove the cartridges,
Clean the golden ( electrical contacts ) with lint free cloth
Put the cartridges back and check if the error message disappears
If not,
Try the Full reset following these steps
Disconnect the power cord from back of printer ( while printer is on )
While holding the # and 6 button, connect the cord
( if you do this reset, the printer will loose all the memory it has stored like fax logs, will get disconnected from Wireless network )

The error message is likely due to a cartridge expiry date and certain printers do not accept such expired cartridges from present date. Try replacing such cartridge

Try doing a reset by holding down the * and Menu/Enter keys while plugging in the unit, hold the keys down until the screen says that it is resetting.

The 3300 also has a "Secret Menu" that can be accessed by;

To View The Secret Menu:
1: Press Both The Left And Right Navigation Arrow Keys
2: It Will Ask You To "Enter A Special Key Combo.", Enter "123" (Without Quotes)

P.S. Use The Arrow Keys To Navigate.
