Are you sure you had the right toggles selected? A friend does this all the time. inevitably he has it set for steam, not water pressure.

You need to let this happen for awhile until the pump "primes" or fills all the way with water. Let the it run with the noise for awhile. Also, let it sit for at least 20 minutes before you start running the pump.

Gagging espresso maker does not pump water

Hi There,
It's either the pump or the solenoid.

When you turn of the coffee switch after there should be a discharge into the water tank - if this happens - the solenoid is blocked but the pump is not.
It is an easy fix.
( This happens when the machine has not been descaled and the solenoid is blocked.)Usually its not the pump.!

Low flow, pump starts normal and within a few second becomes quiete

Hi There,
Try descaling - sounds like the the solenoid is blocked with lime - don't use vinegar! Try that 1st.
If machine is more that 2 years - not regularly descaled or no water filter replaced regularly, it probably the solenoid.
It the machines is 4 years + replacing both would be a good idea. Gaggia classic solenoid Vibration pump Gaggia Rancillio

I have a brand new Classic and can't clear an airlock by following the advice in the instruction manual. Is the unit faulty?

Try to clear the airlock by having the steam knob open at the same time as the coffee switch is on.
This allows any air to come out of the group head and the steam arm.

Gaggia Classic First time use and no water comes out.

Me to! Not happy. Have you found any solutions to this? I don't really want to send away my machine that just arrived but also don't want to mess around with something that should work

I have a similar problem, I think. I get water through the steam thing, but not through the brew head. Not sure what to do either.
