e22--will not finalize DVD-R disk (due to dirty lens, I think)
*unplug unit and replug after 20 minutes
*restore settings if needed, and reset clock
*insert & run/play a DVD lens cleaner disk
*dub video from the HD to a NEW BLANK DVD
*finalize after dubbing is finished
THIS WORKED ON MY MAGNAVOX MDR 533H/F7
PS: make sure that the new blank DVD disk is from the same pile of disks that you were able to finalize before.
My LG DVD recorder was unreliable when recording TV broadcasts to "standard" DVD disks. Frequently it would begin recording a show and then stop with a copyright error message during some commercial. I rarely got a complete show. Very frustrating!
Solution: Buy some DVD-RAM disks and this machine will become totally reliable. They are hard to find and a little more expensive than +RW or -RW. Because of the copyright programming on this machine only DVD-RAM disks will work in VR (Video Recorder) mode.
Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc
DVD-RW It is the re-recordable version of the DVD-R. To use this type of media you will
need to buy a DVD-RW recorder. The DVD-RW recorders usually record DVD-R, CD-R
and CD-RW media, too. Similarly to what happens to DVD-R, DVD-RW disks can be
played in newer commercial DVD players without any problems. Older commercial
devices cannot recognize the media, refusing to play the disk. To play a DVD-RW
disk, commercial players need the disk to be finished. After finishing the disk,
you can only record new data in it by reformatting it, which makes you lose all
the recorded data.
It is the re-recordable version of the DVD+R
and everything that was said about the DVD+R is valid for the DVD+RW. Only the
newest DVD players play movies recorded in disks using this format. There are
recorders on the market that can record both DVD-RW disks and DVD+RW ones. These
recorders are called DVD?±RW. Similarly to the DVD-RW, the disk needs to be
finished to be played in commercial DVD players, and to record new data in the
disk after having finished it requires reformatting it, which makes all the data
in it to be erased. DVD+RW recorders are usually capable of reading DVD-RW disks
(but not of recording them) and vice-versa.
i have a problem recording from dvr to dvd. i have a coxial from dvr to dvd recorder to tv . but the dvd recorder acts like it has no signal.also on the bottom of the tv screen it comes up copy protected. what the problem
Try using Sony +R discs. or +RW's are good, any brand as long as they are +'s. For some reason alot of +R discs brands will not work, I wait and just get Sony +R or the +RW's on sale and stock up and I have no more troubles. Mine is the 05MU. The ZU is a little strange with the RW but will still record. Hope this helps.
The laser in 5101 could be defective or maybe just dirty.Try cleaning with a commercial cleaning disc, put a drop of rubbing alcohol on cleaning brushes. When this happens sometimes it will still be a usable disc but not always.Try putting in another dvd player or recorder or your PC if it plays dvds, the readers in PC are of a better quality and will often read discs that those cheap dvd readers can't.
R+ or R- discs need to finalized after recording RW+and RW- discs do not.It is always a good policy to finalze the second your recording is finished otherwise it may not play in other players or recorders.
When you make a recording in a dvd recorder an it doensn't recognize the disc it just recorded it quite often has a defective laser. This particular model has been plagued with early laser failure.
