Question about Bose 3·2·1 II System

1 Answer

No audio with CD/DVD but works fine with aux and FM

I bought BOSE 3.2.1 GS Series II DVD Home Entertainment System
It has some problem with the DVD player
Its working fine for FM and Auxilary audio and vedio, but no audio if i play CD or DVD. I tried with BOSE 3.2.1 Setup DVD itself, vedio is OK but no audio.
I assume that connections are fine as it is working fine with FM and AXU inputs from my iPod.

I tried changing system settings for audio but no luck.

I too doubt either DAC gone bad or CODEC itself, because even Audio CDs wont play. As I have moved out of USA, I could not able to get much help from BOSE. I ordered it online from bose.com

    Thanks for your help.

Check the cable between the media centre and bass module for signs of damage (if its buried in the wall / under the floor and you can't check it, assume it could be damaged).

however, this sounds like a fault with the Digital Analogue Converter - this coverts the digital audio on a disc to analogue information the amplifer can use to produce sound. Contact your retailer for exchange / repair.....

What country are you in now? Presumably it's a 120volt system - what is the mains voltage in the country you are in? If your using a voltage converter, it may not be powerful enough. If so, to even have a hope of working, it needs to be a voltage converter rated at 500watts. The 321 systems draw up to 350watts of power - if the voltage converter isn't powerful enough (i.e. rated less than 385 watts as you need to allow 10% on top), not all functions will work.

Ideally, have the system converted - most Bose subsidiaries or distributors offer this service.

Bose CD player wont turn it on at all

Plug it into another wall socket, try it there. Then turn off all lights in room and plug it in, see if you can see any glow or LED inside it or outside. Then check the fuse in the plug if there is one.

OK! The cheapeast and most simple way would for you is to get a 1/8th inch conector jack that adapts into red/white RCA jacks (it will have a couple feet of wire in between the jacks) plug the 1/8 inch adapter into the jack on I-POD and the RED/WHITE ends into the back of your systems aux inputs RED/WHITE! OR tape input ect! make sure I-POD is turned up! and you may have to adjust I pod eq to get the best sound out of system! (OH you can get this adatper at any radio shack or wall-mart!)
