Elna 2 thread overlocker contesso mo103

I am somewhat puzzled with the threading - there are only 2 thread holders but the instruction has 3 red blue and yellow in diagram. Where/what would the thread that goes through the sewing needle sit on?

Re: elna 2 thread overlocker contesso mo103

If this model came with several variants, the manual or diagram will cover all the various models in the range

In broad strokes, and without knowing this machine, the looper thread goes "south" around several thread guides then "west" towards the left side of the looper, finally "east" complete the looper threading. (ALWAYS do this one first !!)....this is the thread feeding from the bottom.

The needle thread will go "west" and through a guide that has an enclosed moving arm (to pull the thread in the same way as the take-up arm on a sewing machine) before descending to the needle....

If you still have trouble, can you post a photo, I cannot find one from a google search ?

How do I sell problems

tension on an Elna L4 overlocker (or serger in USA) is controlled with the four dials on the front of the machine, an overlocker has a tension dial for each thread (usually 3, 4 or 5) and the mid range setting will be 5 on each dial. It is critical to lift the thread pole to its maximum height and follow the threading diagram correctly taking the thread from the cone, through the thread eyelets on the pole, then usually a thread carrier on top of the machine, down and around the tension dial, then usually through another couple of thread carriers until reaching the needle or loopers. Many overlockers will have a threading diagram inside the front looper cover and will use colour coding on the components so you can see where each thread goes.

Although overlocker is correctly threaded it does not form a chain

here's a link for a manual
try changing the needles & see if that helps the machine to form
a proper stitch, if it doens't then it's possible that the machine
could be out of time & needs to be checked at a sewing machine

I'm not sure how to thread my machine, I lost my manual elna lock pro 5Dc

I would suggest that you buy a new manual for this as your overlocker has 5 threads that need to be threaded up correctly to form a stitch and there are several different stitches that can be made with this model such as a rolled hem, chain stitch, three thread overlock, four thread overlock and safety stitch with three thread overlock, lots to learn.

You can buy a manual here for $USD14.99:
or this website has a copy for $USD10.

Always well worth buying the manual and saving a lot of frustration trying to guess how things work and it adds value if you are going to sell the item.

You can get some general overlocker threading tips from which may help you too.

I have been dealing with the exact same problem for 2 hours and no answers!! I have just discovered that if you move the stitch width finger to R instead of N, your threader will work!! Hope this helps :)

Hi, I am unable to do a overlock stitch , elna l1

Check with sewusa for a threading guide and manual.

Look inside the font door of the machine to see if there is a threading guide.
