Question about Goldstar Microwave Ovens
Microwave blew a circuit breaker after cooking a potatoe. Reset circuit breaker but micowave is dead. No display, no interior lights, nothing
If you have a sentimental attachment to this microwave (lots of the older ones feel so much more "quality" than the flimsy throw away versions offered today), then you might want to pick up a service manual to diagnose your issue. Here is one being offered and it has a troubleshooting guide. http://www.analogalley.com/osccart/index.php?manufacturers_id=61

THe microwave has to be removed from the wall and then the outer cabinet has to be removed to get to the bulb. Do not do this with the unit plugged in and do not do this if u don't know how to work on a microwave as there is a shock hazard.

The HV capacitor or Diode. In rare cases the mag could be shorted. This is a dangerous area to work in for the untrained. Eric

There are three reasons for this, a bad magnetron "common problem" or a high voltage diode and capacitor can be a factor. If the magnetron is at fault it is cheaper to replace the microwave oven.
