The back doesn't come off for servicing, the entire cabinet does. Remove the two screws on either end of the control panel, either in back or front depending on the model. Pull the entire control panel towards you & up, then flip it back. The entire cabinet is removed by releasing the metal clips that secure it to the back panel. Use a heavy screwdriver to snap the clips out. Unhook the wires that plug into the top and tilt the cabinet towards you and pull off.roper repair - image.tiff An exellent help site is: http://fixitnow.com/  Hope that helps.

The Roper will not allow hot water in although the supply is hot

This sounds like your water valve may have failed. They are fairly easy to change, and are not very expensive. Where the water lines come in to the washer, is where it's located and you can remove it from the back with just a couple of screws. Please make sure you unplug the washer and shut off the water supply to it before you attempt to repair it. :) You can find a new water valve at your local appliance parts store. They'll want to know the model and serial numbers, which you can usually find on the back, but that all depends on the washer itself.

I hope this helps! :)

Roper dryer # YRED4300SQ, no heat and does not shut off

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the washer or dryer ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and found that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video made it possible for me to do my own repair. If you are repairing a dryer or a front load washer I suggest you
go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on both washers and dryers as well as other appliances. If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. You can see it at www.acmehowto.com You will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most
washers and dryers. I think you'll find what you need
there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever
go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

I have a whirlpool washing machine, it will not spin out. Anytime I try to set it to spin cycle when I push the knob in it makes a humming sound but does not spin.....HELP!!!!!!!

This isnt a fix-all solution, but i have the roper top load washer and it has done the same thing i am trying to find the problem, but to get it to spin again we have to move the entire wash bin around and have to turn it (like your screwing it back on) this has happened to me and this is what i have done just to get it to work again, as i said, i am trying to find a repair manual to fix the problem so i can avoid the repair shop.

I believe Roper washers are manufactured by Whirlpool. The following link should provide you with the necessary steps in removing the washer casing, so you can access the pump:

If this information is not correct, or if you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
