System will not power on!

When I press the power button the red light goes out but then comes back on and the unit does not power on. Any ideas?

we had the same problem, thought it may be a blown fuse so opened the unit up and found that the main power board had melted! I unplugged it right away and contacted Phillips by phone and email. I was told that the unit was out of warranty (by exactly 2 months) and they were not responsible for the problem. Frustrating because the melting of the inside of the unit seems to be a something that is a defect not user error. Guess I will be buying a new system! (not Phillips!) good luck

The fuse has blown out and some CAPACITORS ON THE POWER BOARD. You will need to replace the fuse first and then look for blown out capacitors on the powerboard using a multimeter... Just in case you locate the faulty capacitors just note down the values on them and google for them. Shouldn't be hard, anyways if can't find them i will be right here to help!

there are issues relating to the older models, until the power supply board ahs been replaced and the unit tested, it is hard to say, b and w are fixing units because of the known problems, so check with their service desk.

Audio output shorted out or blown fuses in power supply check all fuses if fuses are good your Audio out put transitors or I.C has been shorted out as a result of impedence over load in future dont connect speakers in parallel in those small Audio units.

THE GREEN LIGHT COME ON THEN IT CUT OFF

try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol

to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

like on my 80g system it goes like this

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

My ps3 wont power up

try powering the system up by HOLDING the on;off button , it will reset all your audio and video settings . then plug the system using the AV cables (default) .

else, you should take it to an assastance centre for hardware issues checking . can be a problem with your RAM or GPU units that makes the system unable to startup it's firmware .
