SOURCE: disk drive problem

Windows auomatically makes system restore files. These files allow you to restore your system to a previous date should there be a problem with your computer as a result on an installation of a "faulty" program. You can also create a Restore Point (date) if you wish, prior to installing a program.
To create a Restore Point or restore your computer to a particular date, click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore, and follow the prompts.

How. Do I take acer touch screen PCs to factory settings

Hi. Most computers have a hidden partition on the hard drive that contains all the factory default settings and system software that originally came with the PC, including the operating system (like Windows 7/8,etc.). There is a simple method to restore your computer to factory default settings using this restore partition. Please be sure to backup any data or files that you want to save on a USB flash drive or backup media first.

I presume that your computer is an Acer Aspire One model touch-screen PC. For this model of computer, in Windows, go to "Start," then "All Programs," then "Acer Empowering Technology."

Then, you want to click on "Acer eRecovery Management."Then, click on "Restore," then lastly, "Restore System To Factory Default." Your computer will then reboot/restart, and launch the Recovery Utility.

When prompted, click "Yes," then "Yes" again to restore/revert your Acer computer to its original factory default state. Please do note that if you deleted the recovery partition from your hard drive by formatting it, you won't be able to use this recovery option. If that is the case, you should be able to use the original system DVD's that came with your computer to restore it to its original factory defaults.

I do hope that I have helped you. Please feel free to ask further questions if you still have need. Thank you.

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.
