Question about Toshiba 65H81 65" Rear Projection Television
Hi, the 65H81 stopped working today and the red power light blinks! Is it bulbs or worse?
I had the red blinking light problem on a toshiba 55s rear projection. It happens once in a while 6 mos ago, but gradually shutsdown after 45 sec or so lately. search the net and found www.casias.com repair log. typical hunch on convergence ic or power supply problem. Decided to replace convergence ic bought at Suburban Electronic Wholesalers ebay store ($15 for 2pcs of STK392-110 ICs). Removed the board at the back 9 screws and wirings (make sure to mark it). removed a electronic board (soldered) that hinders access to the ICs and removed/replaced ICs. You can go to casias.com for actualy pix. And voila!! my TV is now back to normal... I would say if nothing is physically wrong with your motherboard (fuses, etc.) most of the time it is the convergence IC. It doesnt cost much.. so start from there..

I don't think is any lamps.
If you are handy try to open the back of your tv, (unplug it first) don't touch anything just yet, you need to make sure you discharge any static left on the power board (the first from your left )Unplug power cord from the board. Take a heavy long screwdriver (Isolated) and lightly, touch a few parts on the board including the thick red wires that go to the lamps. Once that's done its time to put your dexterity at work. You need to lift that board (PD 0074) so that you can check some fuses like F850, F852, etc. for continuity. Mine were out. I had replaced those two and I had tv for another year. Remove the screws that hold the board. Now, this board PD0074 is connected to the next board by two white connectors and one blue. ....lift them up from one side with your finger nail. Don't unplug anything from the power board, just loose some wires so that you can lift the whole board on one edge. Get a voltmeter and set it to check continuity. Mine has a buzz. Look for them fuses if they are bad , ....replace them. (You can buy them at Partstore.com.....punch in "fuses"or "125V 2A")
In my case that was the only problem a year ago. Now I also have the same problem but this trick didn't work for me anymore. The Power Co,. messed me up big this time. In fact the problem with these Toshiba rear proj. is that when the power in your house goes out and comes back right a way in a split second and you don't have a power regulator, guess what : 'red led blinking'
In my case this time the whole power went on and off a few times within 10 sec. and by the time I got to the TV to unplug, it was to late. I think I have to replace the whole PD0074 board....and that's expensive.
