Question about Marantz SR-5200 Receiver

Loud distortion on Front Channels

Hi, my SR5200 has loud distortion on both Left and Right Front channels only, regardless of input selected, regardless of surround mode selected. Volume still increases and decreases but appears about twice as loud as all other channels, degree of distortion increases and decreases with volume. This is the same from the pre outs too (hooked power amp into front pre outs and same result). When volume is set to -infinity, channels are silent. Problem began as soon as amp was powered on (after being off for about 6hours, prior to which it was fine). Have tried 24hour shutdown, no improvement. All other channels work fine in all modes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Marantz SR 5200 The front right and left speakers suddenly pop, crackle, and static after an hour or so of operation. The problem only exists after using amp for a while. Sometimes after one hour sometimes two never consistent. Restart same problem. Need to shut the amp off for for four or five hours then it works great until it heats up again.

Took it to the shop and tech said nothing wrong. I purchased a new amp and everything works fine.

    Any suggestions

    Fred

Well, the nice thing about the newer amps is that the actual amp circuitry is all contained in a module and you don't have to do much troubleshooting. Just replace the module for that pair of channels. Bad news of course is the modules can be pricey. Should say right on it the part number, order it from mcminone.com or whoever, solder it in, use new conductive grease (many times I think these modules fail because the grease gets old, the module overheats and toasts) and you should be fixya'd

My teac MA-7 amplifier makes a very loud bang (rather a very loud clicking noise) a few seconds after I turn it on, and then every 5 minutes or so. Even with volume all the way down, even with no inputs...

All I can tell you is that if the noise is on both channels the cause of it has to be something that is both channels running to it or is something to do with the power supply. If the main amp channels are outputted by one device I would blame it on that. But if they are separate you will need to look elsewhere.

Hi.
First make sure all connections are firmly in place. Not only speakers, but any other inputs too.
swop the left and right channels over at the amplifier end. If the sound happens on the other speaker now, you have a faulty av receiver. If it's still on the same speaker, that speaker is "broken" and requires replacing.

if front left is working it is possible u have a dry solder on ur right channel line. try resoldering or if u want to know exactly where dry solder is, shake gently every right channel components and connections. if resoldering does not work it is possible u have a faulty ouput amp for ur right channel. if ur not sure about this i suggest u get it checked by a qualified tech.
