I can't download the software

Most MP3 players come preloaded with the software needed and performs an install automatically when connected although it is not needed for the player to work. It should appear as a removable drive in My Computer. You should be able to browse and discover the folder to place the music files in. Simply drag and drop your MP3s to this location.

How do I reset an mp3 player?

Each Mp3 player has a different reset method - go to manufacturer's website and look at the manual for that method if you have no manual.

For the RCA TH1100 series, the reset method is to remove and reinsert the battery, or change battery.

Reformat your player to clear up the no available space issue.

Luckily there is a website where you can download the instruction.
Go to http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=doc and select 'Mp3 & Portable' in the first box, 'MP3 & MP4' in the second and 'MP-C7085' in the last. Then click submit.
Beneath the boxes you'll find links to the setup guide, manual and quick-start guide.

Just got the RCA TH1101

RCA TH1100 Series:
RCA TH1100 Series:
Remove and reinsert batteries - if that fails, go to RCA website for firmware upgrade - if that fails:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If that fails, it's dead.

The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes ,format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player tiself.
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
You may also want to check
http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=25
for any firm updates - the above procedures in some cases undo the original formatting on the player, and a firmware upgrade will be required to replace the Mp3 player's formatting.
