Paper either just rolls through without printing or won't catch and sits there

This is a recent problem. When I try to print, sometimes it works great. Sometimes the paper just rolls through with no attempt to print and the paper light comes on. If I push the paper button the next sheet sometimes prints but lately it won't print at all. Sometimes it will print a test sheet, sometimes it won't. I have reinstalled the drivers, connected and disconnected cleared the spool etc. And sometimes the paper moves around but won't "catch" and get pulled through. It just sits there in the sheet feeder. I spent an hour with an epson guy on the phone with no results. Argh.

I'm having the same problem... was hoping someone knew what was up. The printer has worked perfectly for a couple of years... still does, IF the paper catches. I get the "media not inserted correctly" error message, after it HAS been inserted correctly... but the printer just runs the sheet straight through without grabbing it. Agh is right!!

Same here. One day the printer worked great, then for no apparent reason the paper won't feed. I've tried cleaning it, tried different paper finishes and weights, but no go. Really frustrating.

I have a problem with the paper feeding through the printer, it starts to feed then looks like it hits something and doesn't print. the blank paper just comes out and the paper light flashes. I check the printer their are nothing blocking the paper from going freely through the printer. The paper feeds looks like and then it jerks while it's feeding into the printer and doesn't print.

Excellent printer in every way till yesterday. No problems going on four years. However, now the trashcan light blinks on and off very quickly and will not for the life of me pick up the paper and move it to the print head. Sometimes it will pick up a piece of paper and send it through express, the chamber, but will not do it when it is supposed to. Who will fix my printer friend? And who will fix it without making me a pauper?

I had feeder problems but not any more: every type of paper I put through the rear feeder. Put the rear feeder attachment on and load your paper one by one through there. Try it, it has worked for me and might work for you.

I physically rolled the little rubber sheet feeder all the way forward and worked fine after.  maybe it gets stuck in the middle sometimes...

Me again. I had to get a repairman to come out and he basically CLEANED the bejeezus out of the rubber roller section that pulls the paper through. Seems alright again. For now... He used a solvent (said lighter fluid was okay for this purpose- because I had some on hand from a friend who uses it for cleaning such thing, and he fixes printers as part of his work). He wetted a rag with the solvent, and wearing rubber gloves, worked those rubber rollers over good. That seems to be the answer.

This has occured to a 2.hand printer I just bought. First head was clogged very much. I disassembled the head, used a paper towel soaked in luke warm water to clear off the over-gooed printing head surface. It is quite easy to get the head out and back in. Unfortunately my cyan ran out during clean-cycle, so I can't say if it also cured the passing paper problem.

My casio PCR -T2000 won't print receipt paper. The paper is not moving. There is no error on the screen. There is no jam. It is the correct thermal paper. I've tried turning power off and on and...

You haven't mentioned the journal roll, so I will assume it prints the journal but not the receipt. What happens if you press the post receipt button at the end of a sale. Does it print daily reports on both rolls? --------------------------------------------------------------------

The roller does not roll. We can't print labels and we are open for business now.

hello tconnersvrve!
open cover - remove the paper roll and do a test print without paper. look if roller mechanic is working, if so, then re-insert paper roll correctly and do a testprint. if no move is detected, then motor or motor drive has problem - service issue.

Sharp Electric Cash Register XE-A203. I just put a new paper roll into the register because it was out of paper. The register screen is showing all numbers and transactions but when the paper comes...

Hi whitwall,
Please make sure that you have the right paper roll.
Your machine takes a thermal paper roll, which means it actually burns the print into the surface of the paper as opposed to printing with a ribbon or ink roller like other makes.
The thermal paper will only show a print on one side of the paper, in other words if you do indeed have the right roll and it is in upside down you will get a blank printout.
An easy way to see if it is the right paper hold the roll in your one hand and scratch a line with the thumb nail of your other hand accross the surface of the roll,if you get a black line on the paper then it is the right one, otherwise you have what we call a "bond" paper roll and it will not work in your machine.
If you got the "black line" with your thumb nail, then lift the printer head arm (green lever) place the roll in position with the paper rolling out from the bottom of the roll towards the front of the machine, pull the paper out past the catch mechanism and close the printer ****.Tear off the excess paper and replace the printer cover.
You should be ready to go ahead with sales.
This should solve the problem .

Printer is printing off center

Doubleclick on that printer's icon, goto properties and select the advanced tab.
Click "Printing Defaults" and if you have the proper driver for this you should see a "paper/output" option
Write down the paper size.
Click on that line and a button will appear.
Click on that button and find the paper size you are using.
Now you can set you margins or change you paper size
Make sure you are using the proper units, the default entry is centimeters. You probably need inches

Hp LaserJet 1100: Runs louder than normal and continuously, BUT will not grab paper and print

Fred shine a flashlight down the paper feed throat and see if the feer roller is rotating when the printer tries to print.
I have had to replace many of the feed rolls and separation pads in this series of printer.
the tires get dirty or worn and feed multiple sheets or none at all. check for obstructions as well-sometimes the black mylar sheet which sits in front of the feed roll gets in the way of the paper path and has to be pushed in place. I have also seen paper pieces stuck next to the paper path switch which is visible after removing the toner cartridge. hope this helps.

HP IIIp prints extra blank pages

HI there make sure that the paper tray guides are fully against the paper also try sending the job through the manual feed to see if you get the same problem. If you do not then it maybe that the paper cassette separation pad is worn and will need replacing. If your model has no rubber pad at the front of the cassette then you will have a metal hold over one corner of the paper make sure that when the paper lifts that the paper sits under the silver (Dog Ear) as this acts as a separator.

Hope this helps
Thanks J

Paper doesn't advance through the printer

Hi, Sounds very much like the feed rollers are worn out. If you can get to them without too much trouble you can clean them up with regular rubbing alcohol and a rag which will help the paper feed. You might also want to try unpluging the printer and trying to roll the paper feed buttons by hand and seeing if a piece of paper will feed through without catching anywhere. If it does catch somewhere, then you may very well have a small piece of paper jammed in the paper path causing the jam. Good luck.
