Windows xp Taskbar icons

I am running XP SP2 Media Edition and when I minimize a Windows Explorer window, I can only see the First letter of the minimized window. Minimized Browser windows will show the complete title. I have tried several Taskbar repair routines with no success. What can I do to restore the full description of the minimized window in the taskbar icon. (I have tried also, several restores to earlier setpoints with no success as well)

That didn't do it. I still have the folder icon and the first letter of that icon. I have had the taskbar locked all along with Quick Launch as the only toolbar activated.

    Thanks for the answer.

I was, in fact, using the classic mode so switched to try Windows mode. Rebooted, but no change.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I remember this happening a while back on a few installs. Damn if I remember what fixed it. Something about classic mode or something if memory serves me right.

Just a thought :)

1.)right click on your taskbar and turn off all toolbars
2.)right click on the task bar and lock it

Hi There! I am having problem opening my hp director program

    1. Open HP Director using one of the following methods:
      • From the desktop : On your computer's desktop, look for the HP Director icon (c01425509.gif), and then double-click it.
      • From the Windows taskbar : Click Start , click All Programs , click the HP orHewlett-Packard folder, and then click HP Director .
Although HP Director does not appear to be open , it is open and loaded into the computer's memory, but it does not open in a new window as usual.
    2. Without navigating to another open window, press Alt and Space bar at the same time. The Shortcut menu displays near the top-left corner of the computer. Figure 1: Shortcut menuc00833293.gif If the Shortcut menu does not open, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does.
    3. Select Minimize from the Shortcut menu.HP Director displays (minimizes) as an item on the taskbar (the row of open software programs that appears at the bottom of the desktop screen). If HP Director does not minimize, click Minimize again until it does.
    4. Click the HP Director icon on the taskbar . The software opens and functions normally.

My windows media player has no sound,ya the volume

Assuming you did not get a device error while attempting to play there is a sound device thing in control pannel open it and tell it to place a sound icon in the taskbar once the icon is in the taskbar double click it and make sure all volumes are on high and make sure none are checked mute. If this does not work for you you may have a more serious problem and will need to repost.

    No Taskbar

The taskbar is always running in Windows Vista. Unlike Windows XP, it can't be unlocked and hidden unless the 'auto-hide' feature is turned on. If 'auto-hide' is on, simply run your cursor along the bottom edge of the screen and the taskbar should pop-up.

To disable auto-hide, after moving your cursor to bring up the taskbar, right click the taskbar and click properties. Then under the Taskbar tab, uncheck auto-hide.

If auto-hide is off, it may indicate that explorer.exe is not running/has crashed. In order to restart explorer.exe you can either
    1) Restart
    2) Press CTRL+Shift+Escape, File -> New Task and then type in explorer.exe and run

Creative Zen - can't download music from XP SP2

When you plug the Mp3 player into 2 computers running slightly different versions of XP, a reformatting occurs which will cause it not to work on one PC or the other. You must reformat your player for the home computer. Actually, you might want to check the firmware also: Go to Creative's website and double-check the firmware - it will also give you the best way to reformat your player:
