Re: sound

By no means is this a solution, only a comment - Internal Amplifier is bad. Check your wiring before installing another unit.

CDA 9885 No idea why it suddenly stopped working

It sounds like you have a bad ground connection. You need to take the radio out and check all the connections. I bet you have a loose one somewhere. That is what the problem was with my bronco

Aux port

Turn off Radio with car on or key on. Press and hold the big volume button in for 3 seconds, and the radio will say initialise. Than press the FCN button till it says AUX. Than press the SEL button till it says "Aux ON ". Turn on radio and you should be good to go.

Jensen CD3010X Radio Problems

This happened to me too--with the same unit. I finally took it apart and found that the volume up button was shot. The tiny piece of metal that makes electronic contact had actually snapped in the middle causing contact to be made at random by bumps rattles or just about anything. Since the unit automatically comes on when the volume button is pressed, even turning it off was ineffective. So...I unsoldered one of the buttons that I never used much and soldered it where the broken volume button had been. I'm no expert, so I was rather surprised when the unit worked after i reattached it in my dash. Anyways, it was a cheap fix for a cheap--and poorly made deck. good luck

Radio shuts off at volume of 16 or more

Maybe a protection component cutting in.
If you have speakers that are too powerful for the radio it may shut down to protect the amplifier from overdriving the speakers. That produces too much heat in the amp chips/transistors and they either have a overload cut out protection circuit or they burn out.
Even if the speakers are the stock fitted ones the wattage could be bigger than the amp in the radio can handle.
There's probably no way of knowing how powerful the speakers in the truck are but you could try the radio with another set.
Max 50 Watts for that radio. If you don't have the manual for it, it's available here:

Car radio

Obviously there is a heating problem with it. It seems that it is getting too hot and its shutting down before it overheats and catches fire. Pull the radio out of the dash and leave the wires connected. Are there any bare wires or ones not connected good? There may be a short between the wires thats not a significant enough connection to blow the fuse. Seperate the wires from each other and turn the radio back on. Let it play till the time that it usually shuts down. If its still doing it I would suggest smashing it with a hammer.

Volume, Display and FM stations missing?

This could be a bad ground on the radio, or you have serious circuit problems. if a fuse blew, the radio would not work at all. Check the installation first, replace the radio seconds. Good Luck
