GE WBXR2060V1WW won't agitate...

My GE topload WBXR2060V1WW washing machine is not agitating although it still spins and drains the water out. It sounds like there is water collected beneath the tub too. I can hear the agitator try to work and if you press down on it, it does seem like it tries to turn, as though it's no longer connected or something. Any ideas?

Same problem. I pulled the agitator, and the agitator alone spins and "locks", but it does look like that coupler has striped and I do not see any way how in it's current condition that it could grab the agitator to turn it. I order the coupler and hopefully that's it. Thanks!

So I replaced the coupler, and it still does not agitate. If I reach in and hold the air bell, and try to spin it counter-clockwise, it will then agitate (using a screw driver to keep the machine running with the lid open...). What's next?

my washer is doing the same. It doesn't agitate, but it spins and empties in the wash and rinse cycles.

Spidy4u: When you say replace the agitator, do you mean the entire bell at this point? I replaced the coupler and it still does not agitate.

There's a part under the agitator(which lifts off if you pull up from the bottom evenly on two sides) called the "Air Bell Coupler" that attaches to a metal toothed motor shaft with one bolt. More than likely the plastic teeth have stripped off from this coupler, preventing it from sitting tightly on the shaft, thus causing the agitator to not "agitate" properly. You can get this from www.partselect.com. PS1517844 KIT - AGITATOR COUPLING
Cost is $7.15 plus shipping.

Good luck!

My GE WCSR4170D AWW top loading washing machine will not stop filling with water. i can get it to agitate when i blow into the air line hose attached to the water level switch. BUT it never stops filling...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You probably have a bad water level switch. As for the agitation, the drive motor controls the agitation, spinning, and draining. It is possible for the machine to not agitate, but yet spin and drain. The motor runs clockwise and counterclockwise. It may be bad and if so, will need changed.

GE profile washing machine won't agitate it spins out, drains,

Pull the agitator out and check the drive collar splines. If you have the model I think you have just pull straight up on the agitator. Once removed you will see the drive collar with a 7/16 head bolt, remove it and pull off the collar.First before pulling it off spin it if splines are stripped it will spin freely.

GE Top Load Washing Machine -- Agitator will not cycle

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

Washing machine won't agitate.

Depending on type of washer, typical top load Maytag, motor turns in opposite direction for wash and spin. Your problem will no doubt be the transmission.
