Try toggling the Hold button on the back. My question is whether activating the Hold button is the only to turn this puppy off.

Recorder button does not go down. . Is there anyone who knows how to fix this problem

There is an interlock that prevents accidental recording. You may have to press PLAY and RECORD at the same time.

The play button will not stay down.

This button is held down by a sping and catch. It is released by the stop/eject button. Most likely cause is dirt or dry grease in the mechanism, either keeping the stop button down or keeping the play button from being fully depressed. That part of the transcriber rarely fails mechanically.

Red record button will not depress to start recording

Check that you have not knocked the record tab out of the tape you are using.  Try a new tape.

How do I tape to tape

you mean to record?first, you must connect the other unit (if you are using two cassette)by using rca plug or earphone plugs.insert the plugs to audio in or aux(this is the unit that will record).if the other unit doesn't have the output audio, use the earphone out instead.time to record.the recorder must be set to tape/aux,(if you are using a unit with radio setting).then, push the play and record button at the same time.don't forget to put in the blank tape ok.then push play to the unit that you want to be recorded.the square symbol is for stop.the arrows pointing left ,rewind.pointing right, forward.the big arrow pointing right is the play and the button next to it is the record button.

Panasonic RR DR60 Handheld recorder - discontinued?

You can find this recorder on eBay sometimes (quite a bit lately) BUT hold your wallet open REAL wide!! As they are expensive. Issue's with this recorder is that it will show FULL sometimes after a complete format (search online for the easy fix) *take out one battery/hold down MENU and PUSH in on wheel.....then reinstall battery. This will reset (i've had to do it once). Another issue with this recorder is that it will record GHOST's (EVP) but that isn't a problem because that is why I purchased mine :) Look on eBay and you MIGHT find one.....but are very expensive!!
