Try turning the range circuit breaker off for a minute then back on. This should reset the electronics. Reset the clock and try again.

How do I light a pilot light on a GE profile oven?

Modern ovens, especially Profile top-of-the-GE-line don;'t usually have pilot lights. Light with electric element when thermostat is good.

Bad line ge nomogram

You need to think of these ovens as electronic devices. If you get this message after a power outage, it is behaving just like your cable box or internet router when they have functional upset from a power outage. Turn the power off to the oven at the electrical box for 10 minutes then turn it back on. The oven should cycle up and then work. Mine did!

I have a bosch 13p and the pilot light keeps going out I don't know if is the thermocouple or not as it stays alight for hours then dies. It is in a sheltered area and i have checked for blockage.

Get more air to the unit.

Don't use household vent fans.
Trim back trees, and move stuff away from front of water heater and from around vent pipe.
Pilot outage can be caused by tightly insulated house, poor upward draft on flue, other vents or vent fans drafting air upward and causing downdraft on water heater, wind coming down flue pipe, water dripping down flueway, dirty combustion parts, clogged pilot orifice, failed thermocouple, failed gas control valve, low gas pressure, water or air in gas line, super hot location ... or combination of more than 1 thing.

HOW TO LIGHT OVEN WITH A MATCH

Look up product manual on internet.
Look at label located inside oven door, and add .pdf to search parameter to help find manual.
Then read section about lighting appliance.

If power is out, then pilot will not have any gas >> if gas control is electronic.
Many electronic gas controls require electric power to operate circuit board.

In old days, you removed the bottom tray on oven to access burner and pilot orifice. Then you pushed down switch to release gas through pilot tube, and put lit match into the gas stream to light pilot. Hold down switch until pilot flame heated tip of thermocouple which caused magnetic switch to stay open inside gas control. Release switch and pilot stayed lit.

Safety concerns and vast advances in manufacturing cheapness have changed gas appliances so they are more inconvenient for do-it-yourselfers during ordinary power outage.
Cook hamburger over metal bucket with newspaper, and grease on newspaper burns enough to cook hamburger.
People always buy generators and flashlights, but nobody suggest buying barbeque briquets and starter fluid as way to keep warm and cook.

I have a Hotpoint gas range that has electric ignition for the oven. However, I don't have electric at my cabin. Is there a conversion kit for a straight pilot ignition available? The model number is...

Most gas ranges with electronic ignition aren't equipped to have a straight pilot ignition.
I'm don't even think they make conversion kit because of the routing of the gas tubing for the pilot source.

Usually you have to turn the gas knob way over to get the "click-click-click" of the igniter.
Its just as easy to turn on the gas and light with a match...or a long butane lighter.
Even a "striker" used in welding will provide a source of ignition.
A last ditch effort would be to get a replacement gas grill igniter...all ya gotta do is place the bottom of igniter on metal surface and press red button. (kinda works like a spark plug) and no A/C needed.

Hope this helps some.

My whirlpool gas range is getting gas and is clean but will not ignite.

Not knowing whether you have an electric ignition or pilot I will make suggestions for both.
Electric -
There is a thermal sensor that detects if it hot or lit. So if this sensor is bad or shorted it will not try to ignite, however if it is every burner / oven device, then its probably the computer that controls the igniter.
Pilot -
Typicaly the piloted gas stoves will not supply gas to the burners / oven if that pilot is not burning, however there is a sensor similar to the on on the electric ignition that lets the stove know if the pilot is lit. Unfortunately this sensor is not electric in almost all cases and is not easy to replace.

If you have the parts list, this sensor will be called a thermocouple usually in both types, but can be called other things. I would go with this and if all else fails replace the whole ignition system (electric) or pilot valve (piloted).

Oven pilot went out due to power outage. I don't know where the pilot oven light is. where is the pilot light to light the oven?Ge XL44

pilot over lights do not require power to stay light or should it go out in a power outage! do you have to normally light pilot with a match? if not you have a glow coil and its a electronic ignition range and power will affect it. once power is restored you should just be able to turn on over and everything would be ok.if it is a pilot light you need to remove the bottom door stick arm in to back and you'll see the pilot assembly at back if you look up! hopethis helps...
