I want to connect an amplifier that has NO dedicated "sub out" feature, to a powered subwoofer that ONLY accepts a single, RCA plug in. Can I do this - how? Where would I get the output from on the amp - can I run amplified speaker output? Or connect elsewhere? My old power amp uses a "main out" to go to a graphic equalizer; signal returned from the equalizer and then signal goes out to speakers. Where could/would I send signal to the powered sub?
You must use a sub woofer using speaker wire inputs and outputs. You cut the two wires going to your speaker, connect it to sub in and then hook the wires attached to your speaker to sub out connectors. The type of sub you have only connects to pre amps with a sub out RCA connector like the one on your sub woofer. Buy a new preamp or a sub using speaker wire in/outs if you wish to keep your existing preamp without a sub output RCA connector.
You can y out from the main out to the sub. This output is post volume control. set level on sub to desired balance of lows feq to highs
