Sounds to me like the analog contacts need cleaning. I would take it to a shop or a specialist... If you have the proper tools you can do this yourself but from personal experience these can be hard to get contacts lined up correctly after taking them apart.
Firstly, get a screwdriver compatible with the psp,Take the faceplate off.And dust the analog section of the psp with a very soft brush.Reason why there might be dust that is malfunctioning your analog stick.Make sure you take off the analog faceplate though
Try calibrating your PSPs analog stick, here's how:
1. Go to Settings>System Settings
2. With the System Information screen displayed, rotate your analog stick in a circular motion (clockwise and counter clockwise). This will adjust the analog stick's range of motion.
3. Exit the Settings then run your game and test the analog stick. (it should be working well by now)
I hope this helps.
then it is a internal fault is it under warranty if so id take it back and try your analog stick on the replacement one then your see if it your machine or the analog ?
Hey, looks like your PSP may have one of these two problems. There are 2 screws on the backside of the PSP System on the side of the analog stick. If either of the screw is loose then the analog stick will move by itself. Second problem is the Analog Stick itself has been damaged. You can replace these very easily if you are good with tools and electronics.
When playing golf game analog stick moves on its own.
Have tried cleaning but no good

I can't control my character. My PSP seems to have a mind of its own.
