Re: play station 2
Hi this could be one of two problems it is either going to be the laser needs cleaning you can buy a lense cleaner cd for this if this stil dont solve problem then you will need to repalce the laser unit. You can buy these off auction sites but remember you need to get the laser calibrated after fitting new one. If you buy a second hand one then this should work fine as soon as you put it in. It should be easy enough to repair yourself just remove all screws some might be hidden under the rubber pads and some under stickers check for these once removed the case should come off then the laser unit should have couple of screws and the wires are just clipped into the board but be carefull not to damge the clips let me know if you need further help

If other games work fine on it, then the problem is with the game. If it is new, I would try to exchange it. If it is a used game, I have found that some of the used game stores can buff/resurface the disk for a small fee. The place I use charges $3.00 per disk. They can fix computer games and DVDs and all kinds of games.
you might want to get a long q-tip and gently put alcohol on it and swap the lens.then have another tip ready to dry off. ps2 games are basiclly a dvd . and you can find info about a lawsuit that sony has against them for not being able to read dvd's.
The Blue back disc is CD format. The DVD laser circuit is giving you trouble. You can adjust the DVD pot some on the back of the Laser. Turn it about 3 degrees clockwise. Then put it the laser back in. Test the PS2 with no cover on, and use the white round disc from the laser drive cover to clamp a disc onto the spindle. Test DVD and PS2 Games that do not have Blue back.
