JVC GR-AXM18U Compact VHS Camcorder

I just got this Camcorder about a month ago, its done really good, but out of no where, Every time I turn it on to replay a tape (VHS-C) I get a 'blue
screen on the LCD monitor, that says "...E04...Unit inSafeguard Mode...
Remove and Reattach Battery..." I've done that, but I still get the same message. Any idea's how this happened???

Perhaps you should turn off the camcorder, remove the battery, wait a minute, and then put it back in.

Need to know what Cassette for this model jvc gr-sxm245

You can use VHS-C (C for compact) or S-VHS-C cassettes. The S-VHS-C is Super-VHS, for better quality recordings, but there isn't that much in it compared to digital. I'm assuming your camera has the S-VHS capability, as the title, otherwise stick to VHS-C.

Assuming that your camera is not equipped to interface directly with your PC, here are the steps to take to get your videos from VHS to DVD:

- Purchase a video capture device.
A cursory websearch garnered once for $50.00 here:
ADS Tech Video Xpress,1759,1902901,00.asp

- After setting the device up, use the bundled software to convert the video file into DVD format and then burn to disc, using your favorite burnig software. Be sure that it is burning in the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS format and not just copying the .avi to the DVD.

If you would like for me to elaborate on anyt of these instructions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at Good luck and, again, let me know if there's anything else I can do. I think you'll be just fine though as this process is fairly straightforward...just time-consuming.

JVC Compact Camcorder modle number GR-AXM18U

I had this same issue and it was driving me crazy. If you do not turn the camcorder on and hold the eject button, when it is trying to eject tap right in the middle of the tape (next to the eject button)  I had to do this twice before it opened but it worked. It tends to tighten the tape up and reset that error code message it is receiving internally.
