A.To ERASE
1st select the folder of deleting file(by pressing FOLDER button).
2nd press and hold " ERASE" button,
3rd within 10 second select the item you want to erase by rotating "PLAY/STOP SEL" wheel,
4th within 10 second press "ERASE" button. selected item is erased.

if this method will not work, then , the item is locked. To remove the lock folow below step B

B.TO UNLOCK
1st select the folder containg the item ( by pressing FOLDER button)
2nd press MODE button until " LOCK" or " UNLOCK" flashes
3rd within 10 seconds select the item by turning "PLAY/STOP SEL" wheel
4th within 10 seconds press the same " PLAY/STOP SEL ' wheel
item will unlock

This happened to me (well, actually to my wife...). This is what I did to fix it, after lots of fruitless reading of the manual:
Press the tape button (bttom right) so the display shows ANS RECORD.
Press MEMO REC. The display shows MEM FULL.
Press MEMO PLAY, then (quite quickly) DELETE.
Problem solved!

I had this happen and the way I got around it was to delete the memo entry from the desk top and then set hotsync so the desktop to overwrite the handheld and force the new memo data into the z22.

I don't know what the root cause is. The problem is a corrupted data file but no idea what causes this other than something that can interrupt the writing of the file data. It might happen again as all this does is fix the error not the cause. Having said that I had this happen a few times within a short time then have never had it since (a few years).

Attaching Sound Memos to images In replay mode (including single replay, index replay and magnifying replay) you can attach sound memos (up to 60 seconds) to an image. The sound data is saved in WAVE format. 1. Select [ (Sound Memo)] in the [ (Replay)] menu.

2. Select the image to which you wish to add a sound memo using the or button, then press the <SET> button.
The A/V panel appears.
3. Select [ (Record)] using the or button, then press the <SET> button.

• The recording starts and the elapsed time is displayed. Speak towards the microphone of the camera.
• To stop recording, press the <SET> button. To restart recording press the <SET> button again.
• You can add as many sound memos as you like until their total time reaches 60 seconds.

Recording and Playing Sound Memos
You can record and play back sound memos for your photos while you view them on the LCD screen.
1. Turn the Mode dial to playback mode.
2. Press the MENU button. Playback Menu 1 is displayed.
3. Select Sound Memo by using the u d buttons, then press the r button.
4. Press the OK button and then start recording.
5. When you are finished recording, press the OK button. You can play or delete the sound memo or record
a new memo.
6. Press the MENU button twice to exit the menu.
When you play back a photo that includes a sound memo, the icon appears on the screen. Press the OK
button to play the sound.
Note:
You must have at least one photo saved to record a sound memo.
