Dryer keeps cutting out

Hello
I have a hotpoint washer/dryer wd63, and when drying clothes either on low/high heat it will cut off after about 30 seconds.
What could be wrong with this?

Hello
Thanks for your help but it neither of these problems.
It was the turning dial for selecting how long you want the heat on for.
the plasctic turning dial was broken and was not turning the timer properly so it would go for only a few seconds and cut off.

Dryer outlet hose could be plugged or restricted not letting adequate air cirulate. Check this and the filter to be sure both are clear of obstructions. Make sure the flapper at the end of the dryer vent is working correctly.... A blocked vent will cause the temp to get too high and the unit shuts down rather than burn down the house.

SOURCE: Dryer keeps stopping

Plugged filter or exhaust hose to outside could be clogged...Have someone turn the unit on and go out to see how much air is coming out of the vent. Should be a bunch. I'm guessing you have a blockage somewhere causing the unit to shut down and not catch on fire.

There is a thermal fuse at the back that you must check. The thermal fuse can be tested using a multimeter.
If the fuse is ok, then check the heating element , the temp probe, wiring harness to heating element and temp sensor, and if there is nothing in there , then test control timer board.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

Hotpoint WD63 dryer not working

Hi Jacky, Please make sure the power is off and unpluged. On the rear of the heater element board you will find a thermal cut out switch (it's about as big as a 5p piece with an oval outer body) what happens is the heaters overload and pops the bimetal switch, on the back of the switch you will see a small hole just big enough to fit a pin in, get a pin and gently push the bimetal disc and it should pop, if it does then you are fixed.

Clothes wont dry but gets really hot

Hello, sounds like your cold water feed hose has got a kink in it. The machine needs cold water to condense the steam. Just pull out the machine and slowly slide back into place.

I had to have a tech come out for the same problem two weeks ago. They had to clean the lint collector which you cannot get to on your own. He said now that this has been done everytime I use the machine, take the clothes out and then run a rinse spin cycle.

Disconnect the vent at the back of the dryer and dry a load unvented to make sure you don't have a clog in the vent line too the outside causing an air flow restriction, if still not drying check and make sure the blower wheel that circulates the heat inside the dryer isn't broken.
